Hi guys, I just ordered one of these:

http://www.remington.com/products/f...s/model_700/model_700_SPS_stainless_specs.asp

It'll be here in a couple days. I was wondering if any of you have a rifle similar to this one, and could recommend a 3x9 scope and rings for this? I like the Leupolds and the Burris scopes, but if anyone has a line on some lesser-known scopes that are of fine quality, I love to hear your advice.

I used a leupold var xII 3x9-40 with leupold rings on my .308 rem 700 vls. It was used and came with the one piece base and rings, but bought lower rings. I bought the scope off ebay for less then $200, added a harris bipod also used on ebay. total cost $800

I have two 700 ADL's (.243 and .30-06). They both wear Nikon Prostaff scopes (about 150.00). Nice and clear and have held up well. Leupold standard rings bases on one, Nikon bases and rings on the other.

no slant on anyone...but the research on leupold and burris...I did,was not "good" I settled on the new Nikon Monorch.... lots of ads and pr....on all scopes...so find a source that does research...not sales. good luck.

Nikon Monarch with Burris Signature Z rings. A great combination.

There are many quality scopes but only Burris offers the patented Sig. Z rings.

I went to the Dednutz site and I have to say I really like the one-piece bases. The prices are great, also. I might give them a try.

A dealer friend of mine who mounts alot of scopes loves 'em. Says he hasn't seen one yet that needs lapped.

Dednutz had a great review on the Savage sight, and I used them on my daughter's rifle. A really nice setup, at a great price. Only way to make them better would be if they used the Burris Signature Zee ring inserts. And you can get them with MOA adjustments.

I believe the Dednutz are a good thing although they look a little bulky. My local gunshop loves them too. They are in total alignment. My favorites are Talley's. They are clean, petite, and strong as *&^%. Burris Signatures are excellent too. They use a nylon insert you can use to make course adjustment and it doesn't leave ring marks. I've used the standard Leupold dovetail mounts with rear windage adjustments for years and never had a problem even on heavy hitters.

Kenfarrell.com steel one piece mounts topped with Leupold QRW rings and Leupold VX-2 scope. This setup allows you to remove and replace the scope without loss of zero.

I mounted a Bushnell Elite 3200 Short Action Compact 3-10x40 on this SPS Youth .243 today. I used weaver bases and Burris Signature Zee Medium Rings. I was happy with the end product. I am lazy so the Signature Zee rings are great for me. No fitting or pinching. No scope marring. I love them.

Ken Farrell one piece mount

+++1 for the Ken Farrell one piece mount.
I have a 15MOA one piece Ken Farrell mount, only I used Warne Maxima QD rings. I just like the vertical split rings. This is on a Savage 10FP, in .308, I've used the same exact mount/ring combo on both my Son's and my nephew's rigs and it's a bullet proof set-up.

I went to that Ken Farrell site. They look like really great rings and mounts but a tad pricey for a hunting gun. I'll consider them if I get a tactical bolter, for sure. You other guys are surely getting me interested in looking into the Burris Zee mounts. I wound up getting a set of Burris ruger-style mediums for my 77/22, and the problem of the bolt whacking the eyepiece dissolved instantly.

For price/quality on a 3-9 scope, the Bushnell Elite 4200 from SWFA at $249 is probably unbeatable.
I was perfectly happy with Leupold standard rings and bases on my 700. Recently, when scoping a Tikka T3, i went with the highly spoken of Warne rings. I believe the best deal i found on them was also at SWFA ( around $35,IIRC )..
