What is your favorite pistol safe?

Where do you get it?

Price?

Right now what do you consider the best deal on a handgun safe?Where?Price?

What if any features do you like to have on a handgun safe?

for the one pistol I have, I got a $25 locking pistol box from walmart. It's heavy gauge steel, enough to deter almost everyone, since it can only really hold 2 pistols. Came with 2 keys, small car style. Good enough for me now.

I want a pelican case for when I get more. The foam they have is nice, you can pull out a shape for whatever you want, so everything fits snug. and they are everything but fire proof almost. airtight, water tight, lockable.

And eventually I will get a big, fireproof gun cabinet, but... after I move..... nothing like moving something that weighs half as much as a house, in... then out then in again.....

I don't have one but was highly recommended.
Titan Gun Vault. It actually presents the gun when you open the safe.

Any suggestions for a good car safe/box also?

The mentioned Titan looks great but 229 is way more than i'd wanna invest

Thanks

I use the Stack On PDS-500. Natchez Shooters Supply had it for $38 on sale. It has an electronic lock release that you code in and then manually turn the 2 locking pins/bolts. They are of good size, 1/2" or so and there are two holes at the base for mounting to the floor or the drawer etc. Top is thick but the pins are only on one side of the top plate. It has a keyed back up lock for entry if the batteries die. So far its much better than nothing and I don't have to unload my pistol when guests are over or if kids are in the house. Here is a picture.

That's a cool one QwikKotaTx and good price. I just did a quick search and the lowest prices is about 50 bucks on up.

I just bought one almost identical to QuikkotaTX's above.

Only it's a Honeywell sold at Big Lots for $23. Good enough to keep little hands away...

Cabelas "Bulletproof" Pistol case - made from marine quality aluminum,
the corners are cut at a 45 degree angle then a piece of the same
aluminum is placed in and a heavy weld secures it. IT has heavy duty
stainless sttel hasps, and an SS rod that goes through both with a locking
hasp on the end, I got the heavy duty brass lock to secure it. I think if
a gorilla threw it against something the object sruck would be damaged more
than the case. I have two of them $120 each, as well as another for a rifle $170 they have a piano hinge for the lid, and a ribber o-ring seal, for water and dust resistance. The pistol case is 14" x 10" 4" carries two pistols the
rifle case is 44" x 10" x 4" but it's the shorter of the rifle cases - it works for my Marlin 1894, there's another one same price 8" longer for the usual bolt action rifle length.

Wal-Mart used to sell the DAC SportSafe for about $55, but they're apparently not selling them anymore, according to their web site.

Here's one at Midway USA for $80:

Here's one I found on Google for $73:

They work well, are relatively inexpensive, and can potentially hold 2 guns, although the upper shelf is harder to quickly access when the SHTF b/c the locking mechanism and battery pack are up there.

Mosler doubble door.

I got an old Mosler doubble door safe from an old man who is a lock smith for less then the price of a gun safe it's twice as hevey and much stronger it was about 700.00 dollars and 250.00 for the millwrights to move the dam thing it's the kind of safe that old time counrty banks use to have.
look in the yellow pages under locksmith you might get lucky.

I just got a keypad operated lockbox from Walmart and bolted it to the shelf in my closet. Any determined thief with a pry bar could have it open in about 8 seconds. I bought it because it was inexpensive and for me it's more about keeping my kids away from my guns than preventing theft.
