I have a Remington m700 VSF 223 26" 5+1 1/12"-twist Bolt action Rifle.
I want to know if anyone has personal experience converting a hinged floor plate design to a magazine fed well.
My interest is to take a great gun and make a conversion project. I dont want to offend anyone who is a faithful "original-type", or who thinks this is destroying a perfectly well engineered machine.
Since AR-15/M-16 magazines are the most common magazines for a 223, I figured this would be the go-to part.
My Goals:
1) Maintain the accuracy (~3/4MOA) (No mods that would significantly change the receiver rigidity)
2) Result in a system that is stable and not prone to wear and lots of future "custom" work.
3) Have a rifle that can repeat through much more than the 5+1 current capacity.
I read up on a bunch of blogs throughout the web, but have found nothing that gives me the confidence I would need before making such a permanent update to my well loved rifle.
Thank you
