New guy

I am interested in examining the few hand guns I have collected over the years.

1. Colt Det Special 2" circa 1965 ( presented at grad from LASD )
2. Ruger Speed Six 3" circa 1975 (purchased by hollywood type for abuse)
3. Walther PPK/S circa 1070
4. S/W Mod19 6" 1970
5. Colt Gov. 1911? ( commemorative Los Angeles Co Sheriff 1980 )

An Introduction

Howdy! I was a member of THR for a couple of years, and I suppose my old user name is still out there somewhere. I never really liked the old user name anyhow, I think the new one is better for me. I took a break from shooting last winter when lead shot prices got to $50 a bag around here, so I've been out of the loop for awhile.
I'm a cattle rancher that spends my time between our summer range in CA and our winter ranch in NV. Tuesday morning I was driving our cows on day 2 of our drive to the winter ranch when I had my horse come over on top of me, knocking me out and ending in a helicopter ride to Reno where they poked and prodded me then released me with a bottle of vicodin. So, I've been spending a lot of time lurking around THR while recovering.
As far as my gun interests go, I'm a big rifle and shotgun guy. Since college graduation a few years ago, I've gone nuts as a single guy buying guns. I own 3 12ga (O/U SKB, Rem 1100, Win. pump), a 20ga BPS, 28ga BPS, and 410BPS. I have CZ and Rem. 700 rifles in 223, 6mm, .270, 22lr, 22 Hornet, and a 1917 barreled action with a heavy barreled 22 Varminter (22-250) that I am currently tinkering with. I shoot skeet in the winter, ground squirrels in the summer, and coyotes anytime they are a menace. I reload all my ammunition for rifle and shotgun and really get a joy from finding accurate rifle loads.

So there you go, I'm attaching a picture of my best 100yd 5-shot group of any of my rifles:

Now, I know that it's not on center with the target, that was during a load development session.

Hello

I'm new here, I've read different threads on THR before from google and finally got around to joining. I'm pretty new to guns, I started in boy scouts and got my first gun last october (benelli nova, love it). I've picked up a couple rifles since and want the old Colt 1903 at the local shop. I enjoy shooting informal clays and paper, the occasional pumpkin and took up hunting this year. I'm hoping to learn much wisdom and knowledge from you guys and make an occasional post. See you around.

Yo I'm new here today. Gotta Marlin 30-30, Mak-90, a Japanese rifle with a chrysanthemum on it, a makarov, beretta tomcat, cruiser shotgun, moss. 500 long shotgun, ruger 10-22. Fixin' to get a Howa heavy barrel 1500 in 308 and have it glass bedded....that's my x-mas present to myself. Oh.... and I gotta
NEF singleshot 20 ga. that might just be my favorite of 'em all. My buddy's got
a rem 700 heavy barrel 308 he squaks about so I need the Howa so I can out-
shoot him and shut him up. Lookin' for a good used GP-100 too. I'm happy to be a new member of this very authoritative forum of yours. One last thing. I gotta
FN-FAL in 308 with Hebrew on it, a selective fire switch, but the Calif. legal semi-auto only receiver. So that's it.......I think.

Greetings and salutations. I'm new here though I lurked here a for a bit several years back. Celebrated today by joining 'the panic' and ordering an M&P9 from that friendly shop in KY. Last time I was spending any time on gun sites was before the M&P was ever announced. Now you can't click to a new page anywhere without seeing another M&P thread. Figured there must be something to it. And for the price, plus the free mags, couldn't pass it up. Wish me luck, and see ya on the board.

new to the board,
I like just about everything that goes bang. very active in cowboy action shooting (frontiersmen) ccw and prefer shotguns to most. generally carry old school, detonics 45, 1911, or a COP 357

THR Newbie here. Hi.

Hello all,

I've made a few posts, and like what I see, so I'm planning on sticking around. I figured it would be good to make a short introductory post, with a little about myself, and background.

I am, and have always been a firearm fanatic. I am no expert, I am no weaponsmith, and I don't know a lot of the numbers, but I love to shoot. I fired my first gun (a 12ga winchester semi auto) at 11 years old, and learned quick what the difference was between birdshot and a 3" slug. I went hunting many times, and even bagged a few.

I spent 9 years in the US Navy, and was able to fire some of the best firearms Uncle Sam had to offer to us boys who floated around with not much to shoot at. (M9, M14, M500, M60, .50 Cal MG, and one time, the Mark 19 fully auto grenade launcher)

During my time in the military, I didn't have the proper budget to afford my own weapons, but was appeased by being able to shoot Uncle sam's guns.

About a year has passed since I got my DD214, and I got the itch to shoot again, really bad. Couple that with the Election, and I have just restarted my collection. I grabbed my old .30-30 Western Auto Lever from my Father, and with the wife, we together purchased a few more sporting weapons, which any of them can double for HD. The collection is just beginning though, with my new job, we have a little bit of spare spending cash to throw at a few more in the near future. (Wish list of the MPA 9mm MAC-10 Clone Carbine, an AR-15 (obviously), and the wife has shown a lot of interest in getting something that doesn't require multiple trigger pulls to unload a lot of ammunition)

So far, I've found this forum extremely helpful, and I hope my (limited, compared to some of you) experiences can help out a bit also.

Best Regards,

Adam

NearlyNormal here, I came here on a search

for something else and found some interesting conversations. I am very far from being any kind of expert on firearms, I used to go hunting a lot when I was a kid. My Grandpa introduced me to guns in the early 60's and I was a decent shot with a shotgun. My favorite was a 16 gauge Browning that just seemed to fit.

I'm probably way more liberal on the social scale than generally found around here-maybe not, but I think the 2nd amendment is a guarantee of a personal right, and the right is not directed at the ability to hunt, its a right that is directed at the government and its aim is to have a citizenry that can defend itself in a extreme situation against the government. But I hope it never comes to that. The most threatened right, currently in my opinion, is the 4th amendment, but thats another story.

Anyway, Hello to all, I probably won't write too much because I don't have much to share, but I'll be here learning and I appreciate the effort I've seen here to teach sensible and safe ownership and usage of weapons.

Joined a few months ago to ask about a revolver. I ended up getting a GP100 in 4". I'm pretty new to guns compared to most people, but I love shooting. Next buy will be a .357 lever gun!

Hey folks. I've been using the site as a resource for a long time. I’m excited to finally contribute to the community. There’s nothing too exotic about me or my collection. I'm just a regular rural-Texan. I’m a husband and father with a CHL who would rather carry a rifle, but my wife won't let me. We’re big 2A supporters of course, but we mostly just plink with 22's in the backyard because it's cheap and fun. Hello to all!

Hey Gang
found this site searching for info on an old JC higgins 873.17 shotgun. I own a variety of weapons ranging from a lowly junk RG26 .25 auto on up to AR's, AK's and even a new proud owner of a PS90. Love reading second amendment threads and usually laughing my head off at the anti's. Hope to learn a lot here and maby someday I might even be able to contribute something.

Hi,
My name is Ben and I'm from North Dakota. I'm also a member of TFL, but that's not really a happening place right now so I'm broadening my horizons. I'm a gunnie from way back and grew up drooling over the pre-ban shotgun news. I have a wide variety of autopistols, a couple wheelguns, and a fetish with kalashnikovs (one romie and two saigas so far), but lately I've been enjoying tuning a 1939 Mosin 91/30 Tula ex-sniper. As always, I wish I had a bigger chunk to spend on ammo and customizations.

Howdy from NW Oregon

Just wanted to say hi to everyone and I look forward to being an avtive member in this great community! :)

Hi...Bill here. Houston, TX, age 68, working full time because I couldn't stand not doing anything (not a TV watcher). Found the site while googling for "Roman Leather Collection" vests. Nope, didn't get the info I'd like so if anyone knows where they are available (other than gun shows) please let me know.
I tend toward CC and targets with a Sig P232 SS, Browning BDA380 and a couple of 38's. Really enjoy the site, very informative.

Hey, I'm a new member out of New Hampshire. New to both the forums and firearms. The impending doom of comrade' Obama's policies squashing second amendment rights has lit a fire under my rear to start the collection I have always wanted while I still can. I haven't actually gotten to shoot yet (well not since I was like 10 anyway) as I am waiting until I have someone who knows what they are doing before I touch them. I have greatly enjoyed the learning that I have been doing, and the anticipation for the first shot is immense, it's like they are calling to me, but I know I just have to ignore them. My husband directed me to this site, and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all of your information/stories. I will probably be pretty quiet until I don't feel like such a moron.
