Archer

Hello everyone. I'm a total newbie with this forum. In fact, this is the first time I've ever used a forum.

I live in Sydney Australia and...I like guns. My closest friends will tell you that if you ask them to tell you one thing about me :)

Don't own any guns - yet - but have shot four pistols and I like it! I'm 19, so I'll soon get my shooting license.

so...yeah, what's there to talk about?

hey moi_self26...

:) don't feel like a moron! It sounds like you really love guns huh? I love them. I've alwaysbeen embarrased or felt like an idiot 'cos no-one else around me likes firearms with the same magnitude as me.

I know quite a darn bit about guns. You might say I've had little field experience, but I definately done my homework. I don't know what you doing right now, seeing as how we live on opposite ends of the world (and I should really be asleep right now), but I would like to talk to you.

I don't know how this forum thingy works, but I've discovered a little thing called "private messages". I've not worked out how it all works yet, but if you want to know a bit about how guns work and all that, I got plenty of info from the top of my head.

give me a reply sometime, I'm happy to share what I know to someone who'll actually listen.

Archer (not my real name)

Glad to be here.

Hello everyone! I am a native Texan and former Marine! Everyone that knows me knows these facts about me. I am the father of two awesome little boys and a wife that can stay at home with them. I am a HUGE advocate of the 2nd amendment and the right to protect yourself. I came into my marriage fresh out of the Corps and with 2 shotguns, a rifle and a Ruger 9mm. Well as sad as it is, I was forced to sell them because of money issues. Now I am starting my collection again. This weekend I'm going to get a Hi Point .45 ACP, I know I know, many don't like the Hi Point. I have read about it, read comments about it, and watched videos on YouTube. If I can spend $200 and send large caliber rounds down range at an unsuspecting intruder, I'm down with that!
I want more, so I'm not trying to start anything crazy here, I'm just saying I have 3 other mouths to feed before mine, and I live in the 3rd largest city in this great country. I want to get something now that I can afford, before obama succeeds at raising prices on whatever, to where I won't be able to afford anything.
I look forward to getting advise from those who know more than I do.

New Member

I just joined today. I own several shotguns and rifles, but haven't hunted or shot targets in years. I would like to buy a handgun, primarily for protection, and I'm looking for some advice about what to buy. I would prefer to buy a handgun from a private owner if possible. Does this site have a classified section?

One handgun that has been recommended to me is the Ruger SP101 in stainless steel. I'm willing to listen to opinions about others, however. Any and all help appreciated!

Thanks,

Mr. Packard

Hello. I may be new to THR, but I'm not new to internet gun forums, of which I have participated in several over the years, nor am I new to firearms. I'm a native of MS and currently in law school down in Jackson.

Lurker Turned Member

Hey Everyone,
I've been reading posts from time to time for the past couple months, and decided I should become a member.
I've enjoyed the great info here so far.
I like anything with a trigger, but over the years have found myself leaning to 22lr (specifically Rugers), S&W revolvers, and conceal carry handguns.
Take Care Everyone

Newby Question - "Pre-ban" vs "No-ban"

I am building 4 AR-15 with my three sons and joined this forum as a resourse. I have bought the lowers and am now purchasing the kits. I am curious if anyone knows the difference between Pre-ban and no-ban. I have found kits at the same dealer with different part numbers - one for the "pre" and one for the "no." So are there specific differences in these two designations and what are they??

Welcome to everyone!

The best advice we can give is read lots (of course there's lots to read) and you'll probably find what you need. If that doesn't satisfy your curiosity (or you don't care for meandering around) the search function can reduce the ground you have to cover.

Please remember that THR's vision is to provide an informative firearms site where discussions are carried out in a civil manner. Our mission is to show the millions of undecided citizens out there that the antis have been lying to them about guns, gun control and gun owners by letting them see we are not knuckle dragging, irresponsible morons who can't be trusted. We want them to see that gun owners are just like them and the people they trust (or perhaps even a little more responsible and self controlled;)).

HI

Hi, my name is Jason. I am an avid gun enthusiast. Having grown up in a rural town in maine, I was exposed to guns at an early age. I was also taught how to use them responsibly. Over the past 15 years my interest has grown greatly. I look forward to using the forum, and meeting people with similar interests.
God Bless America

My name is stefan and I did a search for machetes on google and found a thread about machetes, so I joined because of that. I'm more interested in edged weapons at the moment.

introduction

Hello...

My name is Harry and I recently acquired my LTCF. I'm currently researching what my first handgun will be (leaning toward a Glock 19). Also, I will be attending classes that will aid in my gun carrying future.

I'll be lurking. :)

Hi everyone! This site popped up in a Google search, and I thought I would stay. I'm a Corrections Officer in Illinois. I'm always looking for a good source of information about firearms. I use an H&K 45 at work and just bought a Springfield XD 40 for my personal use.

New Guy From FL

Morning all - Newbie here, just found this forum while searching for information on the Romanian Cugir.

I've been involved in shooting since my dad gave me my first .22 rifle 30 years ago. I was in the USMC reserves where I had the pleasure of trying to keep my M16 A2 clean enough to fire. since then I've always had firearms but my interest has been renewed by recent events and I plan to stay enaged. My current fun closet includes a Russian SKS, WASR 10/63, Ruger .44 Redhawk, Series 70 Colt, Glock 21, DE .44, and DE .50 AE. Future plans include more revolvers and rifles.

Hi guys

Just thought I'd check in. Looks a great place to chew the fat. I live in the UK and love all things shooting related

Just found the place a few days ago. Already been called names so I guess I'm fitting in.

I live in San Antonio, Texas. Put in 10 years in the Air Force and did what a lot of SSGTs do at that point and said good-bye to Uncle Sam's service. Only into guns as needed for work - armed security - and self-defense. I can tell things are going downhill by my wife's attitude towards guns. When I bought my first pistol (compact Uzi Eagle .40 S&W) in mid 04 my wife didn't even want me pulling it out of the case to disassemble and clean it. A few months ago I decided to take her to the range for some familiarization for when I was working and carrying the Glock. I expected to have to ask her several times - and on several different days - before she would agree. She said OK the first time I asked. She still doesn't like guns but if someone comes in the house when I am pulling 3rd shift they're gonna get a hellova surprise.

Thanks for the opportunity...

I was reading the BangList on Free Republic and saw THR mentioned in several threads so I thought I'd come over for a dose, read a few threads as a lurker this morning and decided to join. I spend a lot of my work time in front of a computer display so I can't say precisely how often I'll be on, but I enjoy firearms immensely and appreciate the perspective of those who own them. I have several myself, handguns, rifles and shotguns, all but one inherited from my dad. We didn't hunt, but I love to shoot clays and targets and cut my teeth on all this as a youth in the Boy Scouts.

I'm a conservative, devout, cradle Catholic from the Midwest, pro-life to the core. I'm very happily married these 20 years with 4 children, 3 girls and a boy, 2 domestics, 2 imports. We had 2 daughters ourselves, now 18 and 13, then adopted an adolescent brother and sister from Ukraine in 2006, now our son is 13, his younger sister is 12.

Look forward to meeting you as we go along the way together...

Hey all, someone was kind enough to link me to this site, and glad they did now!

I'm from the state of Connecticut, 18 years old, and collect firearms myself, Currently up to about 20 more or less, counting the 2 pistols in my fathers name until I'm 21 and can get a carry permit. Most of my firearms are WWII era, but have a few newer evil black guns. Lifetime NRA member, and writing letters to my state politicians almost weekly now.

Glad to have found the site, and see you all around it!

Howdy

I'm a retired Army Sergeant Major living in Kansas. I am an avid rights activist and gun enthusiast. I am horrified at the turn this beautiful country is taking towards liberalism, and even God forbid communism. I stood on Freedom's Frontier too long to watch it voted away by stupid people that want handouts. I found this site from another opencarry.com so I figgered wth check all y'all out.

hello from Buffalo N.Y.

Hello , I am new here and reason I joined is to set many straight. I have trained with TRI-Star, sheriffs, and to many others to mention. Spent 4 years working in youth centers, African American , and Hispanic. at times there were as many as 6-7 armed guards at all times to protect youth from street violence, and sometimes us. anyway most situations when a hand gun is needed, is within arms length. you need to be able to draw and fire in a split second. I use the S&W 340 pd hammerless for close combat, and the Sig. p228 for anything else. so remember when at range 3-6 feet is the practice you need to defend yourself and others.

I've Got it Bad

Hi Guys,
My name is Dwight, and for a Califonian I've really got the gun-bug bad. I've been shooting paper at local ranges with rented guns, and I've just bought a Colt 1911. Now I want a Ruger 22 auto, a Remington 870 shotgun, a revolver or two... I want, I want, I... There must be a medication for this, but I'm having too much fun.
Be well.
