Here's mine.

the rear butt stock shell holder has 5 slugs, the receiver side saddle has 4 00 and two target load shells. I want to replace those two with rubber pellet shells. the capacity is 8+1, so i keep 5 00 shells loaded. that way i can easily load a slug or other type of shot.

Mine is one of the factory combo guns which come with a 28" vent rib accu-choke barrel and a 24" rifled cantilever mount barrel. When it's home, it wears the 18.5" barrel with sights that I picked up from Numrich. The front sight on that was switched out to a Firesight for better visibility in low light. The safety was also switched to a metal one.

It sits with the tube full of low recoil 00, with a couple more and a few slugs in the ammo cuff. It, and I, really like the Federal low recoil Truball slugs. I've set up clays on edge and run five hits in a row offhand at 25 yards on more than one occasion.

The low profile appearance with the wood furniture and gold trigger and lack of add-ons is part of the appeal to me. If something were to happen, it'll be something like "Well officer, it's a lucky thing I had my deer gun handy."

I love this thread and am enjoying the photos, thanks to all posters.

As an experienced shotgun shooter I just want to say one thing about sights; don't bother unless for slugs at distant targets.

Just point and shoot, that's the way to use a shotgun, and you must let your body and brain master that. As someone else keeps saying, practice, practice, practice. Don't think about it, don't look down the rib, don't close one eye. When you miss don't worry about why, point and shoot, point and shoot, and it WILL all come together.

The method won't work for snipers, but it will enable you to hit targets with a shotgun in an instant, and to hit them again before someone with sights has taken aim.

Mine is the same as JubJubs except it just has a bead, no rifle sites. I really need a camera...

Doesn't all those shot shells get in the way and the added weight, wow. If I need more than the 8 shells in my 500 Cruiser 12 ga shotgun for HD I'm in deep trouble and go to the backup XD .40 cal sub compact with 12 round mag loaded with JHP.

My defense against zombie ducks and geese....

Ive just got a regular ole 500 with a 18 inch barrel, aint tacti-cool but it still goes bang whenever I pull the trigger.

My standard load out. I put a bird shot in for a first shot nonlethal option. And in any event it takes all of a split second to fire and load a #000.

I have a plain ol' 500, soon to have an 18 1/2" barrel and that's it. I use a bandolier with 18 rounds of 00 buck, standard Remington ammo.
I don't have ANY "accessories" because I don't need any.
The less you have, the less ther is to go wrong, and most of the stuff you see for sale is unnecessary junk.

FWIW, I carried a M12 shotgun in the Army nearly 40 years ago and I really like the Mossberg 500 a lot. Reliable, easy to take down and clean, rugged, proven by military use.
ADDED: See the stickey on fighting shotguns at the top of thid page. It's very educational.

kidrice, I am VERY interested in your sling and mount! That is exactly what I wont on my 500. Who makes it? What is the mount like?

Junior, you won a cookie. that is an awesome setup for guns and such. Is that in the back of a closet or some kind of massive gun safe. [i think it's the former]

I will get pics up but I have 3 fighting shotguns and 1 field shotgun. I believe in the ultimate persuasive powers of the pump noise when it comes to scaring felons. Zombies don't hear so that's another matter for discussion at another time.

My primary fighting gun is my Remington 870, 18.5" barrel, with the ProMag stock kit, fitted with my M3 light upfront and a CAA sling.

My all-around backup gun is the Mossberg M500A 8 shot Security with 20" barrel and Hi-Viz sights. That one is more conventional looking as I didn't do much to it other than a side saddle and the UM ching sling.

As for ammo, I have 2 slugs upfront backed by 6 00Buck. If I don't need the slug to put down a charging zombie rhino or a pickup truck, I pump them out and go to the 00Buck for 2 legged predators.

I have one of them JubJub specials from Dick's; bought it originally to give my pops a bird gun and me a slugger; he quit the hunting thing & gave it back; I delayed the purchase of Mossy OEM 18.5" bead sight tubes to finish accessorizing my Glock 17 before the Obama prices take effect; I like the elastic butcuff shell holder over the low comb cheek insert; I was thinking how to carry extra ammo...I was opting for a receiver mounted Side Saddle; glad I saw your photo there JubJub;

Nothing Special, standard M590, 9-shot.
Had a old boy at the range work on the trigger & internals, it's running VERY well.
I don't have any good pics, that & I'm just too lazy to get up, dig out the dig cam and take pics. Don't worry, it's in the closet just waiting to unleash the fury on some poor unassuming zombie/mutant biker/whatever...
