Here's my Maverick 88, 8 shot security model. Goes bang every time. I keep the rubber buckshot a friend gave me so in case of zombie invasion, I can restrain and interrogate to find the leader. :neener:

BTW: Can't remember where the lil guys came from, but I can get 13+1 of them, and if my memory serves me correctly, they are loaded with 3-4 00 Pellets and some #7.5 Shot.

Dude, you have obviously not read the Zombie Survival Guide. You cannot restrain zombies and talk to them. They are mindless automatons that only want to feast on your flesh. They are not group creatures and there is no leader to speak of. There's only 1 way to deal with zombies and that's a headshot. No rubber pellets, nothing. Save the rubber pellets for the brigands that will roam the post-apocalyptic world.

side shot please!

Unfortunately, you're going to have to put up with this old one. Couldn't get the camera to cooperate, and I'm too lazy to try again tonight!

Thats a bad looking shorty. I would love to have one but can't justify the $705 + $5 + $200+ tax= +/- $1,000.00, guess I'll stick with a 18 incher

$200 is only if you want it registered as an SBS, to put a shoulder stock on. If you can live with the pistol grip, it's just $705 + $5 + tax.

Thanks, that made my night. What's the top vertical grip for?

I missed Serbu... are they still in business?

Top vertical grip is for people with three hands! :p No, I just thought it would be funny.

And Serbu is definitely still in business. Can't see them ever folding, even if the economy gets worse. They'll always have a market with the people that'll be rich no matter what the economy does.

Damn you! I was up all night researching NFA rules for those of us embattled Americans who are trapped behind enemy lines!

I wonder if the local CLEO is amenable to signing my form 4....

$705+5 is not so bad and I actually found local dealers on that Serbu dealer list.

I'm far from rich (at least for now :p), took me the better part of a year to save up for that thing. Worth every penny, though! That's the one gun I'll never sell, no matter how lean it gets.

And I would hazard a guess that how difficult it is to get a CCW in your particular county may indicate how difficult it'd be to get CLEO signoff. The ATF will also accept a signature from your local DA, certain judges, and some other people with legal jurisdiction where you live. You can write to the the ATF asking for a list of people in your county whose signatures they'd accept.

Other than that, your options are to either incorperate, or form a "revokable living trust." Not sure how trusts work. In this state, anyway, I think you need to pay a ton of fees, and have everything notarized, and notary fees start with $50 just to find out who your local notary is! Something like that, anyway. I only researched it for about 5 minutes, since the sheriff here will sign, no problem.

But yeah, registrations to non-person "individuals," like corps or trusts, do not require fingerprints, photos, or CLEO signoff. They also process about a week faster, I think.

Oh, and make sure you contact several dealers. Some charge a pretty ridiculous markup. Like my local dealer here charges $725 + tax, I believe, which isn't that bad, since Serbu charges $705 + $20 shipping. Another outfit way over in Philly charges $895 + tax!

If you decide it'd be cheaper to have one transferred in so you don't have to pay sales tax, avoid "Exeter Arms" in Nebraska like the plague. That's who I bought mine from, and it was a nightmare. Took over 2 months for them to ship the gun to my dealer, and I was lied to constantly during that time. Saved me $60, but my time is worth a little more than that.

I read over the rules and I do have a corporation... or LLC, wonder if that will work.

I am getting busy on calling the local dealers on Monday for my Serbu Shorty.

Here's mine:

The one on the left is my M590 I bought just before I deployed. The one on the right is a 500 I got shortly after getting out of the Marines in 1992. Odd thing about that one is the rifle sights, 21 inch barrel and screw-in-chokes. Great gun though and has never missed a beat no matter what I put through it.

Here's the 12 gauge Mossy that I my girlfriend got me for Christmas:

I also got an ATI stock to replace the pistol grip, so this is how it looks now. I put in the drop spacer to lower the vertical angle of the stock about 1/2". I love it, it handles very nicely and I'm able to adjust my length of pull to whatever I'm comfortable with.

Sigh... Animal Mother, that looks exactly like the Mossy that got stolen from me in college. I miss it so much. I haven't seen one for sale lately anywhere and I am thinking about getting the rolling thunder.

I haven't seen one for sale lately anywhere

We were only able to find one through the auction sites, used of course. No shop, local or online had a new one available in an 18.5" barrel. Good luck, they are out there.

I have a really early model 500 with a wood stock, 30" full choked barrel in almost perfect condition. I picked up a 18" blued HD barrel for it and what perfect little shooter. I tell you I was usually turned off by Mossies... I admit to brand bias. I tried some Rems, Browning BPS and others... I really like this gun. It pumps so smoothly and handles really nice. The weight is a little behind the center point, which I personally like, It swings smooth with the 30" barrel on the trap range and throws anice pattern about 55/45 high low at 35 yards.
00 shoots well and really does some damage gallon mil jugs. Good times... good times.

I have not tried slugs in it yet.... one day I will to see if I can shoot minute of paper plate at 75 yards or so.

I will try to get a pict us soon.

Here's my plain Jane Mossy 500 that I just brought back home from my Dad's house. I have an 18.5 inch barrel and a 5 shot elastic shell holder that slips over the stock on the way. I bought this shotgun used in 1987 for $100. Never EVER had a single problem with it even though I have no idea how old it actually is or how many rounds have been through it. Nice wood, too. I was going to "tactical-ize" it with some sort of folding or collapsible pistol gripped stock, but decided to leave the wood on it. Maybe it would help or not, but I'd feel better having something that doesn't look so "militarized" if I had to use it in a defensive situation and being required to explain why I used the weapon I did. I think it would be easier for the jury to accept "I was in fear for my life, so I just grabbed my old hunting shotgun" than trying to explain why I used the AK-74 in this picture.

Currently loaded with five 2 3/4 inch 00 buckshot shells, chamber empty and ready to "rack and roll".

No shop, local or online had a new one available in an 18.5" barrel.

No biggie. I just ordered a 12 ga 18.5 inch barrel for the 500 pictured above directly from Mossberg for $73.
