Gunbroker Idiot of the Day!

I just think it's going a little too far with taking advantage of the current situation. I agree with capitalism and making a buck just like everyone else. But there comes a point when you take it too far.

Maybe you should be the sole regulator of all firearm commerce.
You could then pound guys that "take it too far".
Geez chill out would ya?!!? It's still a free country.

And if someone comes along and pays his asking price -- and given the hysteria about guns these days, somebody might well just do that -- is the seller then still an idiot (or any number of other idiotic names that one would care to attach to him?). It's hard to get excited about the workings of a free market society.

relax. nobody has bid on it since it went up. obviously everyone else knows its a crock of crap too

Actually, the way it works is simple. If I have an item to sell I look up the same item on GB, or any other auction site, and see what other people are asking for the same thing. Then I list my item for that price.

It doesn't matter what people are "asking for."

Do a search on gunbroker for something you want the value of. On the left hand side, just above the listed search results, there is a box that says SHOW ONLY: and a drop down box.

Using the drop down box, you can see what items actually sold for in the past day, 48 hours, week, etc. If something was listed for $825 and didn't sell, you shouldn't list yours for $825 if you want to sell it. If 5 items ended between $525 and $550, you have a pretty good idea of what it is worth.

There, now you know what savvy internet gun shoppers are willing to pay for your item.

I think it is a little off rocker to go bannanas over it and boycot gunbroker because of a few overpriced guns. I have found some great deals there and I don't go PMS over the high priced items I just don't bid on them. Notice the auction ended with no bids? Hey it's a free country sell it for what you want, just remember nobody has to buy it. I'll continue to shop there, thanks for your warning.:neener:

Gunbroker Idiot of the Day!

Perhaps this seller needs a reality check, but I wouldn't call him an idiot. As previous posters have said, it's a free market where anyone can sell or buy as he pleases at whatever price pleases him. Just my .02

Is it a reason to avoid Gunbroker? Absolutely not. There's still deals to be had, and a far greater selection than you'll find most anywhere else. I just wish I'd snagged that Turkish Mauser that a master woodworker had restored the wood on. That was a thing of beauty. I was a fool to let it go at the $250 it went for. Any other day that would have been a $500+ gun.

There's also an auction for an FN SCAR going at $6600 too..and its got bids..

its just an asking price..the market demand will determine if he sells..

Apparently, you all missed this in the description:

Destined to become the standard that all 1911 pistols are compared against, the Taurus 1911 offers you the most accurate and feature-laden model on the market today.

Gotta be a bargain at twice that price :D

Is this a Taurus hate thread, or is it the price this rant is about.

Though greatly exaggerated I think most of the description though probably not true, COULD be true.

That price is ridiculous. And judgeing by the other stuff in the ad (wording, yellow-star Metro advertising thing) I get the feeling he's a used car saleman that sells guns on the side.

Taurus setting the standard for 1911's ?:scrutiny: Right.

Tirod.......

Keep your wants in check and your needs prioritized.

Tirod, that line made me stop and think!! Wish that I'd thought of that!! Should be required reading for all of us gun nuts!!!!!

It ain't referred to as "GunJoker" for nothin'

Many aspiring fiction writers get their start writing ads for GunJoker.

Enjoy the humorous reading material :D

I checked this thread when it first started and just dismissed it. I do think the ad copy is a cut and paste directly off the Taurus web site. -1 to this guy for originality.

Gunbroker is no different than going through the rack at your local gun store. There will be some ridiculous prices and every once in a while you find a gem.

Hopefully, Mr. Wow gets a clue. He's got 261 auction items and three total bids. WOW!
you mean "SHAMWOW!!!"

Yeah, no bids= no sale. However a lot of people put high values on their items to draw in buyers through e-mail. That way they can sell the item without paying a commission. sometimes.

I work in the travel industry. This reminds me of those calls I get in which someone who purchased an airline ticket at $500 calls in to complain when the price drops by $100 to ask for a refund of the difference. They suddenly think they're being ripped off, that they paid an unreasonable price. I can't help but think the original $500 price tag must have seemed quite reasonable to them or they wouldn't have made the purchase.

On the other hand, if the price of that same ticket goes up to $600, no one's calling the travel agency to fork over more money.

If you don't like the price of that 1911, do what I did: Pass on it.

Gunbroker has it's place. I've bought a few out-of-production guns that the local dealers didn't have in their used racks.
