There have been numerous threads about favorite or best .22s lately, and I thought rather than reading one a week, that maybe we ought to vote and settle it for a month or so. :D

I had to vote for the model 60 only because you left a lot of good guns off your list. I might have voted for the CZ based on its reputation but I can't because I don't own one yet.

My J,C. Higgins model 30 (High Standard) is a very good rifle and my Stevens model 87 with a Weaver B6 scope is an excellent rifle. My Remington Nylon 10C is also a good rifle but it suffers from cheap plastic magazines. My Winchester 190 is the rifle I value the most but that is because it is my first gun and I have had it since 1974.

you guys should compete in the rimfire match!

I voted for the older Remingtons. I have one of them (Remington 540XR target) and I can not believe how well they shoot. If any of you have ever shot one you would now it to. My next one will be a Remington 541x, these things are great. My Winchester 75 is a nice one also, can't say one bad thing about it. It's a real tack driver.:neener:

candr44, A Winchester model 190 was my first .22lr as well. I had alot of fun with it when I was a kid and still have it, but never shoot it. I have moved on to bigger and better rifles, but it will always have a special place in my heart.

Over all I have had at least a dozen .22lr's and the old Remingtons have done the best for me.

Just so you guys know the 540XR is my first Remington ever. I am not a specific gun guy, I have many brands.

HOW DID YOU EVER LEAVE OF THE SAVAGE MKII?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Oh, sorry, caps was on... Really, if you will edit the poll please...

I don't know how. I looked in the FAQ, and couldn't find anything on editing polls.

I decided that 10 was a pretty good selection. But you know what they say about "you can't please everybody". :neener:

I had one of those in the same era, but sold it because of the trigger pull.

Here are a couple of really nice old .22s. A Remington model 34, and a BRNO #1 Sporter.

i like the savage mark ll i bought i've only got to shoot it once or twice so far.it is really accurate and the fit and finish is really nice and for the price you cant beat it i paid 159.00+tax and it came with three ten round magazines, and it also has the accutrigger which is a nice feature,i am not saying any of the other guns are bad i just have not had the chance to shoot them yet.

wears the browning 22 auto that..

Loads Thur The Stock? in this poll!!! i remember a guy in the 70's on tv shooting thur the hole of a tossed in the air 3/8 washer! and wacking asprin in fligth to !! and than turned around and did it with a 30-06 bar!:what:

I always considered the Kimber Model 82(Kimber of Oregon) the best 22 Rifle ever made in the United States, and the current used prices of these rifles reflect my opinion. :)

I just picked up a Tula TOZ-78.
Shoots great with irons,so good I will
drop on some glass to see what it's really going to do.
Price is cheap for a free floated barrel and an adj. trigger.

Not a good poll. How can you list guns so widely varied in price and without saying anything about purpose ask which is best? No doubt each and every one is best for someone for something. The cz is best quality and accuracy and the marlin 60 is best dollar value.

I love post number 17. Some people will never be happy unless they have something to b&^%h about.

Hey, it is how we gauge life:D Try to remember something good from 6 years ago. Now try to remember something bad. The second is a lot easier isn't it?:p lol

I finally voted marlin mod 60, i don't like the 10/22.

I have a Remington model 34 "N.R.A. Target" (which I thought was a youth model but whatever...the stock was stretched some time in the 1940s) w/ peep sights that outshoots anything else that has passed through my hands. I'm sure a modern target gun would do better but it still makes me grin.

That said, the CZ is overall better in most cases.

I would have to say the Marlin model 60. I had one as a kid and miss it. I guess I will have to get another one. I somtimes think about it like people think about an old girlfriend.
