I wasn't bitching. I voted CZ of the ones up there. The options all had their own pluses. The first thing that popped into my head when I read best .22lr was Anschutz before I opened the thread. Its hard for me to hear best and .22lr (and not value/budget) and not instantly shout Annie.
 
Can't vote-have only had one .22, the ancient Savage bought in the 40's by my grandfather.
It sat in closets most of its life and still works perfectly, and hits small tree stumps about 150 yards in the river, standing, iron sights.

I'm still sort of new at this. Never touched mine from '85 until Oct. '07.
Are old single-shot Savages popular?

And my browning with the reload tube in the stock.

The best for me is the 10/22 CRR, but I voted for the 10/22 standard carbine since that's the closest fit. Honestly, though, other than the CRR model, the 10/22 doesn't really interest me.
