I live in a hot climate and I wear tucked in long sleeve dress shirt and a tie all day long (job requirement).
Casual dress for me is a tucked in shirt and modern (somewhat snug fit) jeans. I'm 150lbs @ 5'11".

I need suggestion for 1) CCW gun and 2) a holster that would fit nicely with my life/dress style.

Any suggestions? :)

I'm going to suggest a Walther PPS 9mm or 40. I just bought one, but haven't shot it yet. It is extremely thin and well balanced. I have carried while wearing a suit IWB at 5 o'clock. Once I took off the jacket, you still couldn't tell I had a gun on me.

I've yet to see one in person (in fact they may not be in stores yet), but the new Taurus PT709 "Slim" looks like a great choice. If not that, I'd start looking at the small single-stack 9mm. pistols. As far as an unobtrusive carry, the best choice--if your jeans aren't too tight--might be the SmartCarry holster, which drops the gun down below your beltline directly in front of your, uh, privates. It works really well.

Other than that, you might consider a tuckable in waistband (IWB) holster. Just for starters, take a look at Galco's offerings, like the Ultra Deep Cover.

Kahr CW-9 and and a comp-tac MTAC or crossbreed. Gun is very thin and very light the holster is tuckable.

I live in South Texas, man.

It gets hot here, and I am usually in Jeans or cargo shorts and a T shirt.

I carry a full size 1911 and I've never gotten so much as a sideways glance.

Honestly, last night I was crapping my pants because a police officer was giving me the hairy eyeball and following me around a convenience store.
I thought I was going to get busted by Texas' stupid "concealed must be concealed" law when I suddenly remembered that the back of my shirt read, "When I grow up, I want to sell DRxugs"

It's a shirt for a pre pharmacy association that I'm a member of, but I'm sure it looks funny to the uninformed. (I fought this design choice pretty hard, by the way.)

Anyhow, just get a good quality holster.

Spend the money on a good piece of leather and it will make carrying very manageable ( carrying a government model 1911 is never comfortable :neener: .)

EDIT:
I'm 6' 2 or 3" and about 200 lbs. I wear American Eagle jeans and occasionally Express jeans, to give you an idea of fit.

I carry using a COM III from www.hbeleatherworks.com

Eric is a great guy and makes really good holsters. I suggest you call him instead of emailing, though.

Yeah. Me too. Except I usually don't have a tie on. A Smith & Wesson 442 in a pocket holster (I use a Blackhawk size 3 mostly, but sometimes a Desantis Nemesis... It varies with the pants pocket) is my choice. This gets comfortable to the point of not noticing that you have a gun in your pocket after a few weeks of carry. I'm not sure how me or you would conceal IWB with a starched button-down shirt tucked in and no jacket on. I'm skeptical that it would work at all.

An important part with the trousers: they can't be too light fabric-wise, or the holster will print through pretty badly. I use pleated-front dress slacks that have a medium weight to the fabric. Also most jeans and Carhartt pants have front pockets that are a little too shallow... your butt will peek a tad sometimes.

Also: "Tight" jeans may be something you're going to have to "loosen-up" on if pocket-carry is going to work for you...

I'm 50 years old, and not the studliest physique in the world, 5'9", around 180 lbs.

Good Luck!

shirt and tie for me... smith j-frame and galco usa holster is absolutely fantastic. love it, wish i woulda gone that route years ago.

it can be difficult to believe how comfy concealed carry can be.

Which Galco holster?

Wearing khakis or dress pants, and tucked shirt I can pocket carry a 642 or my PM9(which does print) but is doable. Or I can ankle carry the 642. I rarely have to dress up(couple times a year maybe) Typical wear for me is jeans and untucked shirt, then I carry my PM9 in a IWB holster, my pockets are too tight for any type of gun.
You may want to look at the smartcarry/\/\ or thunderwear, but Im not sure how comfortable thats gonna be when the temp rises and the sweat starts rolling.

They sell tuck-able IWBs.

What is this about? You can't have a gun in the open, in Texas?

Nope, they send you off to the gulag for that.

Even worse, you can't even be printing! Well, the law says, more or less, that the general public can't be able to readily tell that I'm carrying a gun.
They never can, but I don't think that'd stop an overzealous officer from questioning me and making me uncomfortable for a while.

Keltec P3AT / Ruger LCP / Kahr P380
Rohrbaugh 9mm

In a Galco pocket holster
European brand FMJ
Carry a New York reload instead of a spare magazine.

If you got cash to burn, replace your carry pocket(s) with a heavier fabric.

wrs840 - galco usa (ultimate second amendment) holster. the clip for the belt is designed around a 1.25" belt, and the clip for the pants is designed pretty high, making the gun ride very low. i am very happy w/ this holster.

Spend 90% of my day in a shirt and tie. My work is just not condusive to carry.

With my sport coat on everything conceals

Without the coat I can still conceal a full size HK USP in a MTAC (my personal favorite) or a XD9 in a crossbreed or a SP101 in a high noon and never had anyone question it but they just became a little heavy at the end of the day and I found myself leaving the guns in the safe more often.

I have now settled on a pocket carry LCP when I can't carry the big boys...world of differece. Don't know its there after all day carry...I now find myself carrying everywhere.

I for one was willing to trade down on caliber for concealment and comfort otherwise I was unarmed.

Still bring the big boys when I can though

I carry a S&W 38 spl sub nose in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster. You probably need to switch to loose fitting jeans though. Typically I'm in slacks and a tucked in dress shirt.

Do you have a budget for the gun? How much power do you want to carry around?

My setup is:The leather back of the Kholster makes a great sweat guard.

Same for me, but no tie. I carry a Glock 26 in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster. I do wear pleated front docker style pants, though. This also means you lose a pocket. Nothing, and I mean nothing goes into that pocket other than the holster and the pistol.

For shorts and t shirt, I have a Taurus 905 snubby in an Uncle Mikes pocket holster that I carry in my Cargo Shorts pocket.

I carry a P3AT in a pocket holster on Sunday mornings (just about the only time I'm dressed the way you have to for work).

Normal days I can go untucked and carry a 1911 IWB.

If I had to carry it everyday, I might go with something other than the P3AT .380 though. It's very difficult to shoot accurately...I put a laser on mine that helped, but it's still not near as easy as shooting the 1911.

I used the SmartCarry for a while. I didn't really like it. Not purposefully trying to sound off color, but - it made my balls sweat. And it tended to want to ride up on me.

I'd recommend a single stack 9mm with a tuckable IWB holster personally.

I have several different holsters to carry in, Serpas, Uncle Mikes etc.

Added Smart Carry to that list as well. Different situations for different holsters.

Or am I deluding myself into having a hill of useless holsters LOL.

Nobody here is going to get this right. You will most likely end up with a box full of holsters you don't like before you settle on one you do like. I have found Ross makes one that fits my body and my gun and doesn't damage my clothes. It was the 6th concealment holster I purchased. Best of luck to you.
