HK USP45 for $499

It's an older model, KI date code, was police trade in. Shows some wear. Comes with three 12-rd HK mags. This is the full size one, not the Tactical model.

What do you think? Fair deal?
 
I would jump on it. Especially since the mags alone normally sell for around $50+ dollars, depending on where you look.

KI date code??? I forget when they went to the polygonal barrels from the standard rifling but still great guns! plus at $499 you can't go wrong ;)
 
think of it as a beefed up glock kinna
more accurate and more durable
more blocky too though
 
KI date code is '98.

Does HK have any kind of "freshening up" service for their older guns? Do the guns need to be "freshened up" - springs, ejectors, etc.?
 
The USP has always had a polygonal rifled barrel. I have a USP40 from 1993, and she's polygonal too!

For $499, with 3 mags? No brainer. Buy 2.
 
Picked it up today. It's DA/SA, not V1 with the thumb safety. A little disappointed. But the overall finish is in good condition, better than I expected. Three 12-rd mags, all marked Restricted LE. Has night sights. Don't know how bright, since it hasn't gotten dark yet. :)

Can someone tell me how I can convert this Variant 3 to Variant 1?

Nice pistol & a good deal (& I'm not even the world's biggest hk fan). Will look forward to a range report if you're willing.
 
I will try to post a range report soon. I'm eager to try it out. I also have an XD45 Tactical I'll compare it with.
 
I couldn't find a Variant 2 in .40, so i bought a new Variant 1 and sent it in to the factory....i can't remember whether it was 35 or 85 bucks, plus postage both ways; but it can be done.

Now i've got too much loot tied up in it to sell it; not that i would.
 
That's a great buy! My room mate just picked up a full size usp 9mm for $300. I am so green with envy because of it. The sad thing is my room mate I know will never do a dang thing with it other than let it collect dust
