I was poking around the Mossberg website looking at new models when I saw this monstrosity...

Just one word.

WHY?!

it has been posted here alot, no new suprise........

yes its ugly.....

but to answer your question on "why?"........Because we all know that the damn recoil on a .22 is unbareable:D:D:D

Mossberg employee #1: "Hey, did we get that order of 1,000 muzzle brakes in, yet???"

Mossberg employee #2: "1,000??? I thought you said to order 10,000!!!"

Mossberg employee #1: "What the hell are we gonna do with all these muzzle brakes???"

Mossberg employee #2 (future VP of Mossberg): "Let's put 'em on the Plinksters!!!"

Mossberg employee #3 (new to the conversation and future CEO of Mossberg): " Have any of you guys seen my design for a tactical 30-30 with a muzzle brake, folding stock, vertical fore-grip, and laser rail mount??? I call it the Mossberg 464 SWAT!!!!"

Yeah its kinda rediculous. Except I would buy that tactical lever action that was mentioned :D

Oh well, guess people want a .22lr that they think is a Barret .50

Mossberg has always had an affinity for the strange , some of the first thumbhole stocks on production rifles , the flip down end piece on the fore end that doubles as a vertical grip on the 22 rimfires.
Had a vertical fore end grip on one of their pump shotguns.

Then of course they make one of the best pump shotguns going.

Not to mention their bulpup shotgun.

Another odd thing that Mossberg does is all of their long barrels for 12 gauge shotguns are ported. I've never heard anyone say anything positive about ported shotgun barrels so why they are doing this is beyond comprehension.

Mossberg? Strange? Three words: Bolt. Action. Shotgun.

Love mine, but it freaks people out at the range.

I'm guessing they're going after this market:

The evil black tactical assault .22 crowd

The mossberg would be your basic long range .22 tactical counter sniper rifle:rolleyes:

I must agree with you though. It's daft, but I bet they'll sell all kinds of 'em.
