Police And Citizens Running Out Of Ammo

The gun store I work at still has pretty full shelves (I brought out the last of our back-stock) but we have run out of 7.62x39, .380acp, 30-06 M2 Ball...
Still have a fair supply of .223 and a bunch of 9mm that we got from the P.D. in a near by city that switched to .40

Still have lots of guns but that might not last... the boss went to a police auction this weekend and everything was being bought at retail prices... Saw an SKS at a gun show for 475 bucks! ***!

The only difference my department has with ammo purchases is that we must order six weeks ahead instead of three days. Getting deliveries is not a problem. Prices are up but supplies are available. Once again the internet lore and the press have an issue to exploit.

The police don't need ammo or guns.
Just like the antis say we citizens don't need them.

After all it's against the law to break laws,
so we know no one will break laws and hurt people... Right? :)

Seriously, I'm not having much trouble finding ammo now.
It was touch and go for a bit, but I can still get what I need.
A little higher price than before, but that's capitalism at it's finest.

Ammo and guns are the only thing doing well in the Obama economy. They ain't going to stop the sales nor do anything to slow it cause it is one of the few positives.

Probably will be a round made for every one of the trillions of dollars Obama has spent.

Animal Mother, you win.

Pages and pages of google show your ammo backordered or watered down nuetering going on. Some pages dont exist anymore LOL.

I ran into this problem hunting .45 ACP. I started off visiting every gunshop in my area several times a week. Finally I just trolled the net for several weeks every day night and day and slowly wrestled the ACP ammo in. Here I am buying 5 boxes of 20 or whatever and these whales are scooping 100 boxes at time.

Economic recession my foot. In this case, keyboard. LOL. :banghead:

Well doggone it, I figured if anyone could prove it wrong it would have been you Hungry Seagull. Thank you for your time and effort. I know this can't go on forever, but I do wonder what the eventual result will be. The laws of supply and demand may result in an ugly outcome for shooting sports in general before it works itself out.

I wonder if we will see any police departments seize ammo shipments bound for retailers because they require the ammo to qualify?

Just hope it doesn't get so bad that PD's have to seize ammo shipments to "Protect". :what:

When that happens.... time to "Lock & Load!"

I waited about a hour for the guys at walmart to go in the back and bring out the shipment they recieved that day. I took all they got in except a few boxes of 38.
This is what I got.
5 boxes of 38, 5 boxes of 9mm, 2 boxes of 380, 4 boxes of 32 and 2 boxes of 44mag. that was the whole shipment they recieved. I shoot them all and did not want to spend all of that but I was tired of being without and it was not like I was buying cases of the stuff.

I haven't posted here in a while but would imagine someone has brought up the face that Texas (and probably other states) are running out of ammo:

You certainly have not been posting here for some time... there have been literally hundreds of posts here since Nov 08 about the rapidly deteriorating ammo situation. I assume that it is a bubble, and like any other industry bubble, it will eventually burst. Lately, my .22's are getting most of the action... they are the scooter of all guns... small, weak, and more "MPG's" than you can shake a stick at.

Here I am buying 5 boxes of 20 or whatever and these whales are scooping 100 boxes at time.

Yup... greed and fear have a lot to do with it. Worry not, if the SHTF and society deteriorates, you only need one bullet to get that guys stash. You will be far more mobile than a guy thats nervously guarding 100K rounds.

The local Wal-Mart and Sportsman's Warehouse have been out of stock for months. I don't go to Wal-Mart more than once a month but I was there the other day and they happened to have the 9mm 100/round boxes of plinker ammo. I got a case of 1000 no problem. Not sure if it was a right place/right time situation but there you go.

The lack of .22LR amazes me. Very strange to see, and somewhat disturbing.

OK this is the perfect thread for what I went through today. I checked walmart, dicks, cabelas, bass pro, the good pawn shop that awlays has ammo, on line, and my reload buddy.

NO 9mm ammo to be found. Now maybe its just me but one of the reasons I bought 9mm guns is I thought 9mm ammo should be easy to find.

Guess I will do much less target shooting for a while.

How can the police run out of ammo?

Everyone 'knows' most go through their career without firing a shot except for their annual qualifier for which they barely practice anyhow.
