Most often, at a small range owned by a local civic club (not a hunting or shooting club). They hold turkey shoots on Friday evenings during the fall, and they let people shoot .22s and shotguns there when they're not using it. I called this "other;" maybe I should have voted "someone else's private land."

Local indoor (yuck) range. I really don't have an outdoor range anywhere near me I can afford membership too.
And in the PRofI there is virtually no public land to shoot on. If there is it's so far away as to be non-existant.

Local range that has four rifle ranges which feature covered concrete benches, two covered pistol ranges, and a shotgun range. Dues are $40 per year and NRA membership is required.

Friend has a farm with a big hill on it ;) . When that fails there is a club that is open more or less at the same time that I am available to go play (recently it seems to be more less than more :( ).

mostly i use..

a 100yard public range at the wildlife management area. its about 12 miles from the house. got a good set up for possibly four shooters at once firing into a dirt berm. un supervised of couse( no range officers) which is good and bad. anyway jerks drag everything out there to shoot at. which would be wonderful IF they would drag it back out with them. but they don't.
sadly i used to be able to do alot of things on the wildlife area, over 80 thousand acres. but jerks like these have gotten it nearly all stopped with their littering and vandalisim. so this is one pleasure i have left. so everytime i go there to shoot and sometimes i make a special trip. i take the pick up truck and a wheelbarrow and clean that puppy of every scrap before i leave.

if it weren't for the jerks and idiots, we would have it pretty good

I've got a hundred acres...

...about 80 miles from Louisville. Deep gourge, nice stream, and about 15 or 20 wooded acres, plus a natural gas well. (Free power.) I always intended to build a cabin, runway, & small hanger there. Good place to shoot. However (there's ALWAYS a "however"), now people have built houses all around my place. The last time I went to shoot there, somebody called the Sheriff on me. :fire: I got a "tick" on my leg too.<dammit>

I shoot at a private hunting lease. A friend and I share the lease for year round access. It is about a 90 minute drive from my location so we/me or family usually spend the entire day if not the weekend. There are also several nice bass ponds to fish when target shooting gets old. The price for two adjacent properties (approximately 2 square miles) is 2 large (2k) a year. It's not a bad deal considering the amount of recreation available.

Small club range about 35 minutes from my home. Dues are only $30/yr., and each member has a key for the gate. Covered benches at 100 yds with construction for 200 yd range in progress. Separate pistol range to 75 yds and trap house.

I'm enjoying it while I can, as a largish elementary school has been built across the highway from the club and new subdivisions are springing up like mushrooms around it. Several club ranges in other area towns have been forced out by the financial burden from "nuisance" lawsuits filed in the name of neighboring homeowners financed by the Brady Bunch and the like.

I am jealous. I pay $15-20 per session to shoot at a nice indoor range (BIll's). An additional person is $10; a handgun rental is $15.

Minneapolis, Minnesota people: Where do you like to shoot?

I shoot on my own land almost exclusively.

I am a member of the local range that has a little better skeet and trap facilities than my old Outers thrower.;)

I miss where I lived last ... 430 acres! Shooting of back porch! But we rented and so moved to buy our own.

Now not so easy tho large expanse of fields behind and so not much prob for some 22 plinking but .. ''big stuff'' ..... not so easy cos don't wanna upset neighbors too much.

Member of two ranges ... one is a ''game protection association'' so called .... more of a social club re hunting etc and has reasonably useful range out back .. adequate for most up to 100 yds . and usually no one there in the week.

Other is a ''Gun and Bow'' club .... accent there is on trap actually but, nice three lane rifle range to one side ... only 100 yd but nice set-up . That is my preference these days .. and in fact where I will host the small THR PA shoot gathering this Sunday. Awful expensive - at $10 per year!!!:p

Hey, for you folks who shoot on your own property:

Do you ever worry what that big pile of lead will do to the soil, the groundwater, etc?

How do you deal with this?
