Mostly at a private members-only range. They have an indoor pistol range I use in the winter. But there's some state land 5 miles from my home I go to for quick tests.

Most pistol/AR shooting at work (at least 4 times a year)is at a rented private range. Mostly dynamic stuff rather than just punching holes in paper. Running, moving to cover, pistol/carbine transitions, failure drills, malfunction recovery, simunitions scenarios. Our guys run us through good stuff.

Most of my long gun work is at the gun club I belong to. It has both private and public ranges. Unfortunately, the gun club is not supportive of anything other than shooting from the bench, and in fact won't allow sillouette targets.

Primarily at the local gun club. Members only access.

Once in awhile at a caliche pit on state land.

Thousands of acres of BLM and state land are available locally that I hunt on.

I shoot at a little used private range and at personal ranges set up both at my son's and a brother's properties.

North Olmsted Sportsman's Club, the cleanest, safest range in Cuyahoga County. Unfortunately, a 2nd shift job makes it nearly impossible to use now.

Of the other two ranges relatively close by, one is so dangerously unsupervised, I will never shoot there again. The last time I was there, within the space of about ten minutes the guy in the stall to the right of me swept me with his Ruger auto with the action closed, followed immediately by three guys to my left wrestling over a loaded 12ga. pump while yelling at each other in Serbo-Croatian. That's been going on ten years ago, and I'll never be back. They're too busy sharing dirty jokes with their neer do well friends to actually supervise the firing line.

The other range was purchased by a local chain. The previous owners kept it reasonably safe and clean. I haven't had the chance to see what the new owners are doing.

Ukiah Gun Club

We shoot at Ukiah Gun Club just north/east of town. Members only, they have trap, rifle and handgun ranges, all outdoors. $150.00/year for the family.

We also have a very large BLM area just east of town. Tough to get into in the winter since it is a steep climb up muddy roads. Fun place in the dry weather though. The Mendocino National Forest is close by as well with hunting/shooting.

I don't shoot at indoor ranges any more, too spendy and the air quality is lousy (poor ventilation).

The carport extension off the garage that we usually have mostly full of firewood, makes for a perfect covered firing point for 50 yards or less. On top of the bank of earth we shoot into from the carport we have 250 yard cleared lane up to the next bank of earth. Both dirt banks are about 50 ft high, so they make really good backstops. Property steps up to the north. so the sun is never a problem.

Compitition is at the local private range about 20 miles away, $25 a year per person.

Family farm mostly 986+/- acres into the side of a small mountain or the local private members only indoor range when it is cold/dark and I want to swap tall tales with like minded gun nuts.:D

One of the benefits of living in the NV desert, aside from the 118 degree days in the summer, is still being able to shoot on public land. At least at the present. I read where the administration backed off on a restriction just recently.

I used to be able to shoot on our land before people moved in behind us. I go to a nice private range though.

I voted public range, but in hindsight I guess I should have voted private range with public access since you don't have to be a member to shoot there. Knob Creek Gun Range, known for their twice-a-year Machine Gun Shoot. 200-300 yards, outdoor, $10 all day, bring your own targets (no glass) and pick up your mess when you leave.

There are a couple indoor ranges in town, one is really close to my house, but they are a bit higher about about $25 per hour I think (1 lane, single shooter). 100 yards maybe? No magnum calibers, .22 caliber is the only long gun allowed. They are pretty nice folks though. It's a lot easier for me to run over there to get some pistol practice in, but I go to the outdoor range for a fun day of shooting.

I shoot three places generally -

A private club that is open to the public Sat/Sun. I'm thinking of joining it so I can go any time - it's pretty convenient to my workplace.

Indoor range that is open to the public.

On my friend's hobby farm. This is my favorite place because I can shoot reactive targets, but it's a bit further than the others and I have to coordinate with him first.
