If you are looking for a SXS for clays, you might go to cdnninvestmants.com
and check their catalog. They have some nice shotguns in ther right now, I just got one of the close out Winchester O/Us, it turned out much better than I expected, as nice as some of my Brownings. And the price was right.

I shoot clays with a SxS a 16 or 28, depending on how I am feeling, to boot. I started out with an Auto-5 and moved to SxS's because I find them more astheticaly pleasing and the "coolness factor" of using one, since where I go you do not see many. I would suggest getting a used 311 or other similarly priced one, I use a pair of 25 year old zastsvas. Get it fitted and then go out and shoot. I mostly stay on the wobble trap because if I wanted to be frustrated all the time I would of stayed with gold. Listen to the advice of the oldhats and you shoudl do fien as long as you remember to shoot it like a SxS because it handles differently than a single or o/u. I would also recommend getting a slip on recoil pad and barrel guard, I have the galco ones.

If you want an SxS, buy one. Forget everybody else. Will it be harder? Sure. Will you miss more? Probably. Will you be happy because you're shooting the gun you wanted to buy? Yes.

I occasionally shoot clays with one of my buddies, and when I do, it's with a Saiga 12 with 19" barrel. Of course a this is far from ideal and if there's a fudd around I'm bound to get a snicker, but what the hell do I care? It's a fun gun I enjoy shooting, it goes bang every time I pull the trigger, and it dusts the clays if I point it in the right direction.

the Remingtonians ... pontificating that you'll never hit anything unless you ... get the ahead of the target.
As a certified Remingtonian, let me say that I know we are 100% correct on that part.
Let me add that I have also been a SxS lover for coming 50 years, and have killed a couple of clay pigeons with one of those as well. I started shooting a SxS without the benefit of anyone telling me it was any more difficult or different than any other shotgun, and I found on my own that all that is required is to figure out where the shot and target will come together, and point the gun and pull the trigger so that that happens.

AB I now have all sxs scatterguns for my own use.I have rem/russians for water fowl / beaters.Pedersolies percussions and an 1886 elsie for the rest of the time. The Elsie gets 75gr ff and one oz shot ,not to exceed #5.
I have my eye on a spanish sxs 2 3/4 that is close to the fit of Elsie, translates to drop in stock. I wish I could afford a gold label.
SxS shotguns still fill a need and use, make excellent fear factor.
