I got one of these Burnsed Sling Loops for my 870. I'm using a Chaote regular stock.

My question is: When I install the stock, with the sling loop, it doesn't feel like I have enough of the stock bolt screwed into the reciever. It feels very very solid, but I know that I lost a half inch or so of threads compared to installation without the Burnsed Loop.

Anyone think that this will be a problem, or should I not worry about it?

I really like having the sling on the side of the shotgun, it keeps it out of my way when shooting and pumping.

i've got one like it on my 870. the bolt for the stock seems to be fine as far as length is concerned. i don't think you lost a half inch, judging by the design. it recesses into the receiver and the stock goes into a recess on the plate. you might have only lost a quarter inch at most. still plenty of threads left to go into the receiver. if you don't feel comfortable with it, you could go to your local hardware store and find a bolt with the extra length to make up the difference.

Why don't you call Wilson and get their advice? I have never dealt with them, but I get the impression that they care greatly about their products, and are a good company.

If you can't get info from them, you could PM the president of the company.

I know this sounds funny, but it is absolutely true: If you get one full thread turn into the bolt it is as strong as it is going to get. The extra turns are OK and they feel good, but add not one whit to the strength of the connection. Now if a shear force is applied-as in a vertical/horizontal butt stroke, a couple of extra turns may add to shear resistence, but not by much. Further I have done the same thing to my 870s and there is plenty of thread engagement for any stresses from any direction.

So wrong.

RatDrall, how many threads do you have into the receiver? Three or more and you should be fine. If you aren't comfortable with what you have, you can always drill the stock a little deeper to allow more threads to engage the receiver.
