These are some photos I took this weekend of the presidencia (courthouse/police station) in Suchil, Durango which isn´t far from where I´m staying.

It was attacked Frebruary of this year with grenades and automatic small arms. My fiancee says it was perpetrated by the Zetas.

Miraculously no one was killed.

Looks like the police where pinned inside by crossfire from three directions. I looked for bullet holes on the oposite buildings from return fire from the police but couldn´t find any. Must have been terrifying.

This place made my hair stand up.

The local police in another town were friendly enough to let me photograph them with their sidearms out for a closer look. I didn´t ask but I believe local cops have to purchase their sidearms or barrow one in the meantime. Berettas 92s and S&Ws against grenades and assault rifles.

Good on them for doing what they can with what they have.

Of course everyone else and me are simply out of luck. I can´t wait to get home to the USA! Stay safe.

Any idea what caliber made those holes? (I'm presuming they are patched holes).

im going to go out on a limb here and say 7.62
[SARCASM]Nah that's a military caliber so it's illegal in Mexico. and we all know gun laws work, so there's no way they'd break a law like that in their assassination attempt with the full auto AKs and grenades they bought at U.S. gun shows[/SARCASM]

It's definitely a rifle caliber. Most likely 5.56x45, or 7.62x39. It seems like 7.62x39 would do more damage than that to a concrete wall though.

The holes in the door are slightly smaller than a pencil so it might have been .223 or such.

Modern buildings in Mexico are usually made of solid concrete seeing as there isn´t a lot of timber in Durango. I guess concrete walls come in handy when stuff like this happens.

Drug commandos sure are lousy shots. I've read so much that they've been trained by Green Berets and Israeli Special Forces...

Good thing they didn't loose an RPG. Might have turned out a bit different.

I guess those must have been on backorder, what with all the demand as of late.
