Kahr CW9 vs Ruger LCR for CCW?

Fix the Kahr!

The first thing I would recommend is a complete cleaning for the Kahr. Pay particular attention to the chamber. I would also replace the recoil springs as these give the slide the energy to close the slide.

If that doesn't work contact Kahr or a local gunsmith to check it out for you.

Then buy the LCR and carry both!

Do the revolver checkout on the LCR, I have seen a few with too much movement in the cylinder. Other than that I would highly recommend any snub nose for carry. Yes it is less rounds but very reliable and no tap, rack, bang for most failures, just pull the trigger again. Once you own a revolver you will see there is just something about them that are so enjoyable. It is hard to quantify, you just need one.

P.S. I think the Kahr are super good looking and feel great in the hand, but I have heard so many horror stories, I am not sure I would ever buy one and again there is a lot I like about them.

How many rounds have you fired through your pistol?

I own a CW9 and experienced a few failures to return to battery during the recommended "break-in" period, but not a singlefailure of any type since then (over 1000 rounds fired since the initial 300 break-in).

Take the pistol down as far as you dare and clean every nook and cranny. Grease the rails (not oil) with a recognized, quality product and continue the break-in.

I am fully confident in my Kahr...Federal Hydra-Shoks feed reliably in mine.

I really like my Ruger LCR. Its taken the place of my Glock 27 alot more than I would have expected.

9mm vs 380 is not a tough choice

I think I'm going to go ahead and buy the LCR or a similar snubbie anyways. I've always wanted one. Thanks for the responses.

I like the snubbie idea better, more power and reliability. It's also easier to shoot IMHO.

Isn't the LCR a 38 special. Anyway, my CW9 is 100% reliable with any kind of ammo. Also, with the chambered round and the seven in the mag and the eight in the spare mag the Kahr offers a lot more firepower than the LCR which is a five shot revolver. Of course you could carry two 38 special speed loaders and have about the same amount of ammo as the Kahr.

As far as carry is concerned I know the LCR is a compact package but the Kahr is really thin. I carry mine in a Don Hume IWB H 715 and the gun just disappears. The LCR with it's cylinder would have to be a little more bulky.

I too have a Kahr, a PM9 and it is REALLY easy to conceal

My CW 9 has been a dream to shoot and carry, not any sort of bobble and eats every kind of ammo well!! If its not working well I would send it in to Kahr, they have great service.

.38spl id trust as much as a 9mm for a ccw.
The LCR very well may be a good idea for you,and once you get it look into having that

My cw9 is a great carry gun. I also like my 442 and lcp.

They all get carried depending on the situation. I bought my 442 before the lcr came out. If the lcr was available, I honestly don't know which I'd have bought. The lcr has a better out of the box but the grip makes ccw harder and I don't like the little cylinder release either. No complaints about the cw9 I own. If yours has issues send it to kahr for warranty repair. Revolvers do have a fun factor that semis don't.

I shoot better with the semi than revolvers so that is the usual carry gun.
It's never a bad thongto have a couple choices for ccw.
