I would not mind joining in, but...

We are getting a tad cold here, and when it wasn't just cold, it was WET and cold.

We are getting cold here because of the 40 MPH winds and the snow blowing around.

Nice idea when it gets warmer out.

The Doc is out now.

PS, also, at the moment I am bummed - still - because I turned in my lowest score ever at pistol league. 30 of 200 points. My bad, I should have tried out my new gun a bit before I used it. Never had the chance. It hung up on the wadcutter ammo I was using that the 1911 was digesting without problems. :(

Like the Dr said.......... it's pretty ugly up this way right now - but I do want to try this if at all possible.

A couple of question though:

When do our targets have to be completed?
Scoring -
I assume the center is "10" and each ring 1 value lower?
How willl we compare targets........ post pics here or?????

It's cold here also. We will be lucky if the high gets to 73 today :)

Won't be able to get to the range till sometime in Feb. and I don't have myy cylinders back yet.

As soon as they come in I will be at the range for sure. Getting the cylinders backbored (more powder room)

Ohhhhhhh...Lol...

Was COLD and crappy and unending RAIN here for days on end...roof leaking, dripping truickling and puddles on the floors...damn trickles were splattering n my Dragoon, had to dry it off, move things...eeeeeesh...puhhhhh-tooooooey...but oh well.

I was thinking, anyone who can get out and Plink before Feb'y 1st, would be in the friendly casual just-for-fun January 'Match'.

Just share images of the Target, and, of course, include an image of the Pistol/repeating Pistol used..!

Weather is nice-enough here now, but I am slammed with Work-things I gotta do.

Still 6 days to go for January's run, so...fingers crossed!

Hey...there's always February, too!

And I'd be glad to run one of these each Month if ye like.

I could go along with it. Believe me it's freaking cold here in MI too but, let's not all be a bunch of wimps now. I'm guessin our forefathers didn't cry too much about the cold.
Well OK maybe they did. But come on this could be fun. Yup damn it I'm in!

Well...dragged my weary caboose out to the Range, for a Maiden Voyage for Mr. 1860 Colt .44 Civillian version of the 'Army' Model ( ie: no cuts for a Shoulder Stock).

Did 12 Shots all tolled, one handed, fifteen yards, fairly rapid fire.

Being nearsighted, after the first Six rounds, I walked up to the Target to see how things were going, and I saw I had been drifing a little to the left, which I decided was owing to my grip being not the best, so, corrected my hold/grip for the next Six, and they found Center nicely-enough, if a little high.

Wow...I sure like the Colt 1860 ( well, the Uberti rendition of a Colt 1860 anyway)...nice balance, nice weight, a real sweetie in every way...very likable.

I was too chilled to stay out there any longer...and, ran out of Powder in filling the Chamber for the 12th round! - All the Flask had left, was just enough for that.

...but, I'm sure looking forward to ding more Shooting with this Revolver.
Used full Charges, thin homemade Grease-wad, and .454 Balls.

Flask is an older repop 'Peace' Flask...'Altoids' Tin, open, showing Grease Wads...Box o' Balls...

Been snowin here all day. only about 3" of it though. They've gotten a sight more further south. Mayhaps it'll thaw out enough next week to go do some shootin. Have 3 new pistols to try out..... well, new to me anyway..... a A 25 year old Stainless Steel 1860 Army; 37 year old Leech and Rigdon, and a 32 year old Rogers & Spencer. If it warms up, I'll punch some paper & post the results here.

Here you go boys. Just back from the range and didn't even clean the revolver before taking the photo. Not a real good group, but not too bad for me. Those 2 shots at 11:00 o'clock sorta got away from me. :D

Two-hand hold, 25 grains GOEX 3fg, cornmeal filler, .457 cast balls, CCI #11 caps, and beeswax/parafin/tallow lube from Gatofeo's post. Twelve rounds total.

Nice going Acorn Mush!

You are the front runner by far!

Is that a Ruger Revolver?

Beautiful Stocks

was gathering my ROA when friends invited me to a local pond that had been stocked with 16" rainbows. As the temp was high 60's here went fishing. [sorry guys that's why we live here] Will get to the range thursday, guess that'll be feburary's challenge though.

Definitely want to get in on this one too as soon as I get some nice shooting weather. Same as Mykeal's shoot stickied above but haven't had a chance to get out since last November. Winter sucks! I'm so itching to get out and burn some powder.

As soon as I can though I will shoot this with my '51 Navy. Want to do Mykeal's rifle shoot with my '61 Springfield .58 with minies, then with my'42 Springfield .69 with round balls and finally with my Hawken .54 prb.

Soon! Indiana is not known for it's mild winters. :D
