VZ 61 Skorpion .32 acp - PREPOSTEROUS?

While there is some rational for the auto version of the Skorpion, the semi version seems to fill a niche for the smg wannabes.

It is a novelty, but I've bought guns because of unusual design before.

I guess if you are from a European country and wanted a sidearm similar to what the police agency used to carry, there it is. Even when they start making them in 380 I see no use for them. The old interarms 22lr version did not do very well either, but I would assume the manufacturers/importers must feel there is a market.

The FA version is a blast to shoot as long as someone else is paying for the firearm and ammo, especially with a silencer and folding wire stock

For HD:
There's better guns for aimed fire and for point shooting, there's noting that VZ can say that one round of 00 Buck can't say better.
For CCW:
ROFL!

I've always liked the VZ61, and I would consider getting one (I've got stranger and more useless guns already). But the lack of a folding stock makes me like it less, not to mention the price.

I am going to get one just for the hell of it. With a stock its actually a very handly little carbine. For SD it obviously leaves alot to be desired.

On paper it makes almost no sense, but once you have one in your hands and fire the thing, I think you will turn around.

If you wanted to invest the $200, does anyone sell the stock?

It's a range toy. Looks cool, lots of fun. Good match if you're into eastern bloc guns. Ammo is cheap too. Not every gun needs to have your life bet on it in the battle vs. home invaders.

I've never fired such a thing, so this is just me blathering, but personally I don't think I would find it to be all that fun unless it was a real full-auto one.

Apparently, bump firing it is fun. My local shop had one and I played with it for a while. It seems well made. I wouldn't buy it for anything but a fun range gun or shooting at a bunch of watermelons, and for that I could see it being fun, but for home defense...ah, probably not.

Nothing wrong with a fun gun though, I have several that I wouldn't part with.

Surprise - it will be coming in in 380 sometime in the near future, according to what a little birdie told me. The 9mmMak has been suggested.

9x18 would be a good choice. .380 is pretty expensive for plinking. An SBR in 9x18 would be very interesting....

Czechpoint does offer them in an SBR configuration, if you want to fork the cash for all the paperwork.

It's a range toy. I don't see much practical use for one. If I got a screaming good deal on one I'd buy it and SBR it just for giggles.

They are much better as a submachinegun than they are as a semiautomatic pistol imho

Actually The russians made them in .380, 9x18 and 9x19...we just don't have any of the imported.

Some company called Leinad made a crud 9x19 skorpion that uses a proprietary mag. There are two of them on gunbroker right now.


Now the stock is weird because the FA examples have a slot cut on the back of them in which you can just slid the stock right into, but the semi-auto ones do not. So I am not sure how you would affix the stock. Would a metal apoxy like JB-weld be strong enough? I doubt there is enough room in the rear of the action to drill and screw it on.

Actualy I can imagine it as home defence gun in case your gf/kids cannnot handle 12/76 shotgun. Ive shot Scarabeus 06 (semi-auto škorpion) and seen few kids/girls shooting it - you can throw a lot of bullets in direction you point in no time and if you hit something, 7,65mm B. will do its part.
