Hello,

This is not intended to be a political post at all.

My LIFETIME carry permit just came, and I wanted to share the good news, is all!

Now I don't have to worry about renewing every four years... ever again! :neener: :)

Josh

Ironic that we can have a lifetime permit and they are still that crappy paper card when most states issue nice ones for a 3 or 4 year permit.

Dang I had to pay $240 for class and license for 4 years. Congrats. I wonder if IN does non resident lifetime permits? The is there recipriocity (sp?) with TX? That would be awesome.

IC 35-47-2-21
Recognition of retail dealers' licenses and licenses to carry handguns issued by other states

Sec. 21. (a) Retail dealers' licenses issued by other states or foreign countries will not be recognized in Indiana except for sales at wholesale.
(b) Licenses to carry handguns, issued by other states or foreign countries, will be recognized according to the terms thereof but only while the holders are not residents of Indiana.
As added by P.L.311-1983, SEC.32.

I am not a lawyer. Sad I have to say that. But from what I'm reading, as long as you've had a background check of some sort and a piece of paper saying you're a good guy, we don't care who packs! :D

Congrats!! How does one get a lifetime license to carry vs a renewal every 4 years?

Send more money :D and pass the background check. It helps if you've had a permit before.

I almost had my lifetime last time I renewed my four year, but the bill was still waiting to pass - and I wasn't going to go unarmed and wait to see if it would pass. Turned out it did so about a month after I received my last four year license :bang:

My lifetime permit was applied for (also in Indiana) back around Dec 20th. I'm still waiting for it to come back. How long did yours take? I have no question that it'll come as I've never been in any trouble/no reasons for them to deny it, I'm just getting anxious and don't like having an expired permit even with my receipt for my new permit. Glad I won't have to worry about this anymore.

Hello HighStrung,

The MO was cashed on the 16th of January IIRC, and my permit arrived just the other day - coincidentally (or not?), it would have been mailed out the same day I called them to ask about it.

I almost think that they're so backed up that they have a waiting list - and maybe if you call, you get bumped up, esp if your license is expired like I explained mine was.

All conjecture; just seems odd especially since the lady told me it would be two more weeks.

welcome to the LTCH life time member club!!!!!......if your county was is a L-1 Solution's county you could have done it on line and digitally finger printed you could have got it in less than a week.....

I agree! I've had mine for a couple of years, and its already starting to get pretty worn around the edges. I had it laminated, but it's still just paper!

Does anybody make some kind a plastic protector to put a license in, that would prevent it from wearing out so fast?

Indiana is a great state.

I laminated my little pink wondercard myself. Lots of folks have laminating machines.

I forgot how much the whole ordeal cost, under 200 is that right?

I feel bad for residents of other states that need to pay thru the nose every few years.

Its nice to have it over and done with.

I wonder if IN does non resident lifetime permits?

IN only issues nonresident permits to people who have a business or property in that state. It would be awesome to acquire a lifetime permit from a state that would issue a nonresident permit the way Utah and Florida do, as long as your state of residence honors nonresident permits. Colorado does not.

Hey Josh....

Can I buy one square inch of property from you in Indiana? Me being in Texas and needing to have property there, one square inch ought to be enough.

Silly regulations invoke transparent evasions...
