Glock Gen4 crap out reports already coming in

Owned? Hardly. I joined there in 2002, back when I was interested in getting a G20.

Then they put the damn finger grooves into them and I haven't been interested since.

Glocktalk is one of the premier gun sites on the net. It has more activity and members than most, and plenty of non-Glockers (and even Glock haters) are members at GT.

I doubt any other single brand fan forum has as much activity as GT, (maybe 1911 and AR-15.com's - which really aren't brand specific) so much so that you are as likely to get a reasonable, decent answer concerning a non-Glock firearm at GT as you are at this site, THR or the actual guns fan forum.

The M&P (boat's polymer) is probably more promoted on the GT General Firearms Forum that at the SW forum. ;)

Why not buy a second generation?

I have never seen one for private sale locally so that I could actually handle it. For my purposes, the only point in buying a used pistol is to have it "off paper."

Nope. My favorite polymer is Italian.

I do prefer my wife's M&P to any Glock I have fired.

ok this is getting silly, the two Glock people are jumping all over anyone who has a membership to GT?

This is rediculous. you two make me GLAD I am not a glock person just so I am not affiliated with this sort of bashing on forums.

Sheesh. you will never see CZ guys acting like this.

We are more polite :)

I will say, I might buy a Gen 2, and do that handgrip melting project that guy did on his XD a few threads back, that might be really fun to do. I wonder how cheap they can be had.

i'll wait a for a year or two before i get a g4 glock and see if they've gotten all the kinks worked out of them. i've owned g2 and g3 models and never had a problem with them. i've also owned several sigs, xd's and hks and all have functioned 100% of the time. i don't agree with all the bashing on glock because of the problems with the new models, they aren't the first gun maker to have problems with a new line.

Let’s see S&W is on there 3rd Polymer framed pistol design (Sigma, SW99 and M&P series). Glock was not the 1st but is the most successful to date. Would we have the Polymer pistols from S&W, Springfield Armory, Walther, Berretta, and other manufactures with out the success of Glock?

There is chatter concerning the 4th generation Glock with questionable substance.

There are Glock models 26/27 and 29/30 with dual springs. Initially there were problems but engineering changes were made. Dual springs are not new to Glock.

The Glock recoil springs are weak; the dual spring design may be a method of adjusting the rate of deflection, duration, slide movement and rate of acceleration

I’m not going to get in a tizzy or have a hissy fit with out hands on experience.

Call me crazy, but I think choosing (or not choosing) a specific self-defense handgun based upon forum bashing is just downright irrational.

Why do I like Glocks?

They are very reliable.
They are very easy to shoot accurately.
They are very easy to maintain and repair and tinker with.
Parts and accessories are abundant and rather affordable.
The pistols themselves are not too expensive.
They are offered in a wide variety of calibers and sizes.
And, unlike Boats, I don't find the grip to be a problem at all.
They are very comfortable in my hands (except the G21 which is too fat IMO).
The grip angle is not a problem for me at all....in fact, it points very naturally for me.

I've shot a lot of different handguns (Colt, S&W, Ruger, CZ, Beretta, Springfield, Kimber, Browning, FN, Sig, HK, Taurus, etc....) but I always find myself coming back to the Glock.

As for the Gen 4 Glocks....
I have learned the hard way to never buy the first of any new or re-designed product.
You have to give it a while for the bugs to be worked out.
I was in the Army when we switched to the Beretta, and yep, there were problems initially.
But those problems were eventually worked out.

And in time Glock will also work out the kinks, just as they always have.

Sir, that is a sure way to get your Internet License revoked. If you're not willing to engage in baseless conjecture, speculation and posturing, you have no place on the World Wide Web.

Easyg, dont get all bent out of shape. I didnt say thats why I dont own a glock, just saying at this very moment, I am glad I am not a "glock guy". Not that thats the whole reason I dont own one. I think I even mentioned 2 posts down that I was thinking of picking one up.

Your welcome  but I was never in the Navy. Not sure how you got that idea?

I went to Parris Island in the Fall of 1984.

USMC Active 1984-1992

USCG Active 1992-1998

Called back to active duty duty 2001-2003 after 9/11

I had a choice between a glock 17 and a CZ 75B

i chose the one that starts with "c".
Both are great handguns, but I really never warmed up to the weight of the CZ.

CZ 75B 9mm = 35.2 oz empty
Glock 17 9mm = 22.04 oz empty.

Heck, the G17 even weighs less with a full magazine loaded = 31.91 oz.

A full magazine in the CZ pushes it to well over 40 oz.
Which is too darn heavy to tote around all day IMO.

This reminds me, I need to pick up a Gen3 Glock 21 while I can.

Hmm...Unnecessarily stiffer recoil spring
Unnecessarily more uncomfortable grip texture
Unnecessarily large mag release

I'll pass. I hate it when marketing gets in the way of actual progress.
