Anyone out there successful using the Wolf 223? I know it gives a lot of problems to some, but some people say it works fine without jamming their guns. I want to hear from all you people that run wolf 223 successfully without the case getting stuck in your gun.

What rifles are you using and what do you think it is about your rifle that runs Wolf fine when others are jamming up, piston set ups, chrome lining, barrel lengths, anal-retentive cleaning, etc etc.

Not the most accurate ammo out there, but no issues for me and knocks down steel plates just fine.

I've shot thousands of rounds of their .223 from a Colt 6920. It's fine and I have had zero issues with it.

I have fed several boxes through my AR, with a non-chrome lined barrel, without having any problems. I do shoot mostly brass though. I'm going to begin reloading it soon. :)

wolf?

It worked fine in my 16 inch bbl Sabre upper (chrome lined), but we believe it to be responsible for breaking the extractor on my buddy's Bushy M4gery. I have not had good luck with their pistol ammo though. I have had 9mm Wolf that the primer cap popped out and FTF'd and 45ACP the had split cases, but as I said, in 223 I've yet to have a problem. That said, I don't shoot it too often.

hope that helps

PS. In Wolf's defense, they did attempt to make it right by buying the rest of the case from me at the full case price and by giving me a coupon for $50 off my next case.

OP... i have shot wolf through a number of ARs, ranging from 14.5 chrome lined carbines with NATO chambers to 16" stainless "recce" style guns with wylde chambers to 20" chrome lined NATO guns, and have experienced no problems. i had problems with it in my mini 14 like 12 years ago, swore off the stuff for a while.. but the fact of the matter is, that probably wasn't an ammo issue i was having. i didn't know jack **** about guns back then, and just assumed my double-feeds and other issues were ammo. we all know, however, that double-feeds are exclusively magazine problems, for instance.

the vast majority of people who have biases or report problems with wolf dont ever seem to have a clue, when you pick them for facts. a number of things can cause wolf to not run right in a given weapon that are problems with the gun, not the ammo. if your gun cant run wolf, its an indicator that you have latent problems that should be addressed, not that wolf sucks.

i prefer brass, and shoot a LOT more brass than steel, but if i'm feeling a little poor or it's all that's available- heck yea i'll shoot it.

ETA- my only experience with wolf is .223. cant speak for their pistol or any other caliber rifle ammo.

I started a thread just over a week asking about it. Picked up 40 rounds of it at the store to try in my Sig 556 to see if it'd work. It ran fine so now I'll order the 500 round box I was eyeing online at around 25 cents a round.

I ran it through my old Colt 6250. Thats a 16 inch, 5.56 chamber, chrome lined, light weight barrel.

I recently bought some super cheap steel cased stuff in a white box from Cabelas. Dirtier than Wolf even. My new Noveske ran it fine. Thats a 16 inch, 5.56, chrome lined barrel.

i had an old bushmaster post ban a2 model that ran wolf and ever other kinda steel cased ammo just fine. however the ar that i have had for the last few years does not like it at all. i use pmc.

I have shot quite a bit of it in my Stag Model 3 16" chrome lined barrel/chamber. The only problem I had was with some of the older style rounds you know the ones with the lacquer. I had some stick in the chamber but since I put a extractor upgrade kit into it I haven't had any problems.

I've shot a few hundred rounds of Wolf .223 in my M4's. They have 16" chrome lined barrels. No problems. I like Brown Bear better but I'll buy Wolf when I can't find any Brown or Silver Bear. I have a Bushmaster and S&W MP15. Everything I've tried in them works fine.

$5 per box at Cabela's. Was gonna pick a few boxes up, but figured the PMC is only $2 more, so i picked up the PMC instead. Even though some said, it's okay, i still wont use it

Put about 200 rounds of wolf on my M&P 15 when I first got it. Had more than a few FTFs at the time, mostly I blamed the mags. Switched over to
Wisconsin Cartridge Corp at a buddy's suggestion. Same mags and no issues since.

Could have been Wolf, could just have been the rifle's "growing pains" as it broke in. I'd give it another try some day.

I've ran a bunch through my Mini 14 with no problems, actually, I thought the .223 Wolf was more accurate than the .40 S&W Wolf.

Yeah, that was the Herter's steel case which I think is Wolf. Anyway, at 25 cents a round and non corrosive I picked up a lot.

My Ruger Mini-14 goes through it without a problem. I was out in the woods the other day and I went through 40 rounds to keep from bringing them home with me. 39 out of 40 rounds went bang. The one problem was a bad primer. But that is to be expected with such cheap ammo.

Having said that, Wolf ammo is really dirty. So I do not shoot it through by Bushmaster. It's just too much drama cleaning it.
