If the size is really comparable to a keltec P-3at or the Ruger LCR, I'm definitly interested in one as a EDC. Wondering if anyone else is waiting on one...

Definitely looking forward to the new .380. Hoping that it will be a good fit for my wife. Also hoping that there won't be a year long "Get the bugs out ordeal".

With the price and availability of 380 ammo, I'd go for one of the smaller 9mm varieties before getting a .380 ... something like a Kahr PM9 or maybe one of the Kel Tecs. But then again, I'm a "T-shirt and cargo shorts" type of guy and can conceal my Glock 27 with no problems at all. If I needed "deep cover" or had to tuck in my shirts, I'd look for a slim 9mm and a tuckable holster. I had an LCP, bought the Crimson Trace for it, and absolutely hated it. YMMV.

I'm interested, mainly if it becomes approved for sale in California. Can't get Kel-Tec P3AT, Ruger LCP, or Taurus .380 here in our forward thinking state. That is assuming it gets some good reviews in the gun mags and the real world.

No more .380s. No ammo, no sale. Full size like a BERSA or Beretta, perhaps, but no more fussy eaters (compacts) for me.
It's a PIA when you can't find enough ammunition to practice with and no I don't want Aguilla, made in Mexico as an option to Winchester such as Cabela is pushing.

I'm also not sure I like the built in laser.

At similar price points it would be difficult to take the S&w over the Kahr.

I don't know if anyone of these items has come out clean and w/o a recall or a return trip for some reason.

You can count on S&W to take care of shipping and great customer service though if need be.

Not if they make the slide out of Zinc alloy. Like they did on their last try on a 380. The 380 Sigma, was a belly flop.
I believe the slide is made of blackened stainless on that one (as are most of the newer poly frame s&w's)... here's a couple pics if anybody is interested:

*just a side note: OMB Express is offering preorders for law enforcement personnel at $389 plus shipping. Can't beat that with a stick!

Has any of the literature said how the laser is activated? I wonder if it's the button on the front of the frame, right under 'Insight.' That wouldn't be nearly as convenient as Crimson Trace's activation setup.

Can't say that I am, thank you. After the absolute disaster that S&W has instituted with its licensed copy of the Walther PPK and PPK/S -- a gunsmith's folly that has virtually ruined a classic -- I'm not inclined to purchase anything these days with the S&W name on it at the moment. Well, let me recast that just a touch: I'm not inclined to purchase anything these days with the S&W name on it that was made after, say, 1970.

If it has the lawyer lock, then I'm not interested. If not, I would be, but it would have to beat the SIG P238 and Micro Desert Eagle (which I now have).

I'm looking forward to a de-buged, laser less, reduced price version.
great looking pistol!

Well I have been looking and hoping for a DA pocket sized pistol with a manual safety. The only one I know of on the market is the .32 tomcat and while I love it there are days I get caliber concerned about the .32 (not that a .380 is much bigger). It looks like the S&W also has a manual safety (perhaps for those CA buyers) but i have my concerns about S&W quality control.

I am watching with a jaded eye and may become more interested if it is successful in the already over crowded .380 pocket pistol market with a history of reliability. Because after all if its not reliable, how can I use it for what I it was designed for.

I would be very interested if the laser was activated upon gripping the pistol like my Keltec with a Crimson Trace but my understanding is it's push button located under the insight insignia.

Wanted the S&W briefly, nice looking pistol. I went with a SIG P238, it is #6 in my SIG collection. I still have my S&W model 39-2 but have for the most part less than stelar performance from the Smith autos, all but the one traded off or sold. I hope that Walther can bring S&W out of the dark ages. For the last half century all the S&W pistols look alike just the new model #, same tired stuff, I hope Walther influences S&W not the other way round.
