Yes you can. You will need to clean the chambers from time to time because the cases are about .125 shorter and carbon will build up there. If you let it get bad enough, it can cause trouble shooting .357 ammo. Millions of rounds of .38 Spl are shot through .357's. Just keep her clean.

Congrats. Fine guns.

.38 special works just like a ".357 short"
Just clean the ring out when finished shooting .38 & you will be fine.

You can shoot .38 out of any .357.

Anyway, congrats. Love my GP100. In my opinion, the best all around .357 (not counting concealed carry) that one can buy. Shoots great, and will out last you (and probably your children). It's a lifetime purchase.

i love my gp100. shot a few 38s to get used to it, but its a steady diet of 357s from here on out. great looking guns and awesome shooting guns

You'll love it. Wife and I both have 6" stainless GP's. Hers with small grips and light springs and mine set up same as yours. She was shooting .38's up until lately, now she has joined the magnum club albeit with light loads.

well it shoots a little high and about 2.5 inches to the left....the up and down is east to adjust...how about the side to side

I don't remember off hand, but you want to move the rear sight on any gun THE DIRECTION YOU WANT YOUR SHOTS TO MOVE.
I only say it loud because I still get it backwards sometimes. Hopefully if I say it loud, we both remember it.
So in your case, turn the screw whichever direction shifts the rear sight to the right to bring your windage into adjustment, then whichever way is needed to bring the rear sight down to get your elevation right.

ok so you are saying to lower the point of impact...you lower the rear sight....that dose not seem right to me.....well maybe it dose...Hmmmm

Yes Lower the rear sight tips the front down, thus lowering the point of impact. Same for left and right, moving it to the right, moves the impact to the right.

Do yourself a favor, start reloading and stick to those 357's. The ring that's created in the cylinder after a couple of hundred rounds of 38's is absolutely miserable to scrub out.

There are some great instructions for smoothing up the trigger action. Buying the spring kit is an absolute must as well. Lots of shooting works wonders too.

I love my GP100. Will absolutely be a gun handed down to one of the grand kids when the time comes.

I have mine set for 15yd's. But you need to figure out what your primary use of the pistol will be. If you plan to use it for plinking, work up a reload with light bullets and zero for that. I use mine for IDPA so have to load for specific power floors so match bullet - loads - accuracy. These things are soooooo much fun and reloading just increases the range of use. Some guys at the range love to blast full on heavy loads. Just depends on your preferences. Pick a distance that you are comfortable with. Then shoot +/- 10 and make note where they go for that Kentucky windage! I love to chase milk jugs at 100yds!
Just my $.02
