I have the stock off of my 1905 Ross and there are two screws in the bottom of the action where the barrel screws in. they screw up in towards the barrel threads near the chamber end of the barrel. does anyone know what they are for?

I no longer have handy a copy of the book but it sticks in my head that at least one of those screws would be a set screw on the strange Ross barrel threads; about three turns per inch, lefthanded.

I think that I saw this on an OLD Snyder carbine and tend to agree with the set screw. I wish you could post a picture!
