Those who cc. Do you wear magazine holders?

For those who "throw it in your pocket," have you ever considered the lint getting in the mag and jamming it? Just something to be aware of...

I do when I'm carrying an autoloader. Cheap, leather, mag carrier on my weak side belt. As far as concealment I just drop my shirt over it just like the gun. It sits right next to the Iphone on my belt which is MUCH larger than the mag, and no one has ever inquired about that bulge, why would anyone notice the mag?

That being said I do carry a revolver frequently, and then it's just a speedstrip in the pocket. I moved from a much larger, more dangerous city a while back and I find that my new risk assesment suggest that I can carry much less.

Yes. I carry my spare in a crossbreed mag pouch. It's built like their gun holsters. Comfortable, tuckable, and very concealable.

I guess I am old school cause I am OLD. I carry my Taurus M450TI which is 45Colt. If I cant get the job done with "5" I need to retreat.

I have had a CCL and carried for over 38 years now.

Why does your magazine only hold five? Can't you get an extended version?..... Joking, joking.

I never would've done it when I lived in Memphis, but I've been known to just go out with my little airweight and no reload  I love my j-frame. Awesome CCW weapon.

Yuppers.

Dual pocket mag pouch.

I carry an extra mag either in my pocket, or jacket pocket. I've never carried one on the belt, but I'm considering making a horizontal mag pouch for my belt.

"There is preparedness. And then there's living your life in a worst case scenario mode."

Unless I am misunderstanding this statement, what's the difference between this comment and somebody that thinks carrying any gun is preparing for a worst case scenario mode?

Personally I carry a double mag holster and they are concealed. I noticed a couple people mentioning not needing that many rounds, however there are more reasons to carry an extra mag or two.

Those same people say "You probably won't need that," or "Odds are you won't need that much ammo." First off a couple extra mags is not a lot of ammo. Secondly, I like to stack the odds in my favor as best as I practically can. Carrying a couple extra mags is a practical way to help ensure you have enough ammo for whatever may happen. Odds are I won't need a gun, does that mean I shouldn't carry one?

Sometimes I have a double mag carrier for my xd45 but if I carry my Kahr PM9I usually carry two or three spare seven round mags. They're so small I just carry a bunch of them.

what if you miss?

It's interesting reading the responses so far. I say carry as many rounds as you comfortably can. The idea that you only "hopefully" need 5 or 6 rounds to get the job done is very faulty thinking. The FBI statistics show that most critical incidents happen in low light, inside of 10 yards, and against more than one attacker. Are you assuming you will hit each bad guy when you fire at him? because the stats also show that a person who consistently hits at close to 100% on the range will only hit 60% of the time in a real incident. None of this takes into account Mr. Murphy, who will strike at the very moment you don't want him to. Your mag will fail. Your gun will jam. You will trip and fall. And are you training for all these probabilities? I'm just an armchair QB like most of the rest of you who has never been in a gunfight and doesn't really know what to expect. But i won't stop doing my homework on these types of incidents. And my homework compels me to carry the largest caliber weapon I comfortably can, with as many rounds for it as I can comfortably/practically conceal. My two cents folks.

There's always trade-offs, concealing weapons and ammo is no exception. We give up freedom to enter certiain place, time, money, comfort, etc... We each have our own level of 'sacrifice' that we accept in exchange for the peace of mind that IF we need it, we would have it.

There are scenarios, real and imagined, that would require more ammunition than any of us could carry during our daily activities. I sometimes carry 50+ rounds of 9mm. Other times I carry 7 rounds of .25 auto. It just depends!

If I can I do carry one extra mag, sometimes two. It is always concealed.

Considering the REAL-WORLD statistics here,not to mention, personal considerations, I stopped carrying a semi-auto altogether. I'm now only carrying a humble 5-shot S&W 642 Airweight revolver.(GASP:eek: )
The odds are about a million-to-one that I ( or any of you) will ever even have to pull it out, much less fire it,so why would I ever drag around (another) big, chunky, heavy automatic and (even more ridiculously),EXTRA friggin' magazines ???
Yeah, I know, "better to have it and not need it.....".
Maybe I should start humping around a Samurai sword,an RPG, and plus-5 gauntlets of ogre-power.

I don't because I don't like to be cluttered with a bunch of gear and crap in my pockets and all over my body, though I have considered it. I do however carry one in the pipe.

Considering the real-world statistics here, the vast majority of us can dispense with carrying a pistol at all. Why bother, when the odds are one-in-a-millon against ever needing to defend yourself?

I will never understand people who carry a pistol but no spare ammunition. But that's me.

Anyway, when I carry (usually when traveling out of state,) I carry a spare magazine in a Kydex carrier on my belt, and yes, I keep it concealed.

Nope. Calculated risks. I dont wear a helmet driving a car either, and the odd's of getting into a car accident are far greater where I live than getting into a gun fight.

I think there is a difference. We can, for instance assume that somebody who carries a spare tire is well prepared, right?
Now, how about someone who carries four blankets, twelve pounds of spam, four spare tires, a spare engine block, sixteen MREs, a handgun, a shotgun, a rifle and keeps a watchdog locked in the car for a ten minute commute to the bowling alleywhile living in a Florida retirement home?

My point here is that while yes, we're working in degrees here, carrying a gun and being proficient with it already puts you miles ahead of a dude with his fists.
There is no difference in my argument and the argument that we don't need guns. But then there's also no difference between my argument and *needing* a full tactical set as well as four people on backup while buying some ice cream at the boardwalk.

I agree. In addition, the gun in itself is MUCH more of an inconvenience than an extra mag if you ask me. I think an inconvenience is something that weighs more and is bulkier to carry. If a gun isn't inconvenient how in the world can a much lighter and much smaller mag be any inconvenience? Please don't take this comment personal for those that use these arguments, they just don't make sense to me at all.
