Ok guys,
I got this rifle a couple of weeks ago, but felt it needed a few changes..
It is a Century gun, and I just didn't really think the black plastic furniture looked 'right'
I think the wood handguards just look a bit more 'authentic' I guess
Anyway, I got a surplus sling and re-blued the hardware on it, as it was a little rough.
I got a cleaning rod for it (courtesy of my dad) and added a paracord-stock-wrap for a slightly more comfortable cheek-weld.
I got some surplus Yugo wood for it, but it came soaked in cosmoline, and very dark. I stripped the outer layer by soaking / brushing in mineral spirits, and then sanded from 180 down to 400 grit. I didn't stain them, just because I sort of like the way the light color highlights the wear and 'use' on them. I just applied 6 coats of Tru-Oil buffing with steel wool in between.
