I would like to replace the aging recoil pad on my 30-06 which has a concave stock face.
All the available pads seem to be made for a flat stock face.
Can a pad such as a Limbsaver be made to work on a concave stock?
Can they be heated and formed to the stock contour?

The simple thing to do is to cut the stock and remove the curve, the fit a grind-to-fit pad of your choice.

Pachmayr says that you can heat and bend their pads, for what it's worth.

I am almost sure that Pachmayr requires their pads to be mounted on a flat buttstock. However, I agree the simplest thing to do is to trim or either place the curved buttstock on a disc sander and grind it to a flat surface with the desired pitch. Funny thing is that installation of a recoil pad properly is a bit more difficult than it appears.

Wal-Mart sells the Limbsaver under the Winchester name for ~$20. It's the same thing. Try one out and if you don't like it you know they'll take it back. One of these fit pefectly one my inhereted 742 Woodsmaster.

Side note: The Great Horned Owl pair just returned to my yard a few minutes ago :).

Kick eze will bend a little to fit the contour.

but after squarring it up, any pad can be fit , then it is just up to you picking from the many makes and styles.
