Carry gone bad

Of the legal classes as well as the CCW class I was mandated to take, it is very very clear that it must be immanent danger and no other means to escape to safety. Sounds like road rage gone bad. He could have kept driving, or called authorities, etc. However, who really knows..

I also see Road Rage gone bad!

However, we may lack pieces of the puzzle! It does not seem in favor of CC permit holder...as in justifiable? We will have to see how this one plays out!

And watch the Anti's...they will have all eyes on this case!

People really need to make sure that it's justifiable and that it's a definate necessity in preservation of their own lives that they take another with a firearm so that way it does not ruin it for the rest of us law abiding citizens. It's people like this that give the Brady Bunch ammo against us (no pun intended)

So not only did he most likely pull his gun without justification but he was also shot and killed by it. It seems like he literally did nothing right in this encounter. Road rage can definitely be very deadly.

nowhere near enough data to even begin to form an opinion, except on the sensational nature of "news"

I suggest that everyone making judgments consider their initial assumptions and compare them to the scant "facts" included in the article.

it is very very clear that it must be immanent danger

Not only that, but typically you can't participate in escalating the situation to that point in order to have a valid self defense claim.

Basically, if you're taking part in the altercation that THEN escalates to deadly weapons being drawn then it doesn't matter that your life truly was in danger - you were part of what took the situation to that point.

When you have a CCW and are armed you simply do not have the luxury of having a bad temper.

and no other means to escape to safety.

That part varies by state. In most lenient states (and certainly in mine), there is no "duty to flee".

It appears that there is enough data to decide that the permit holder was too undisciplined to have a gun.
Anyone who continues a road rage incident to the point of going to a parking lot and continuing it is stupid. An example of a person who should not own a gun.

Don't care. When he lost control and went to deadly force he was stupid. If he had been in an accident I think the report would have mentioned. Either way the guy was stupid.

The only thing I can tell from this article is that if you are going to shoot someone, do it again... or else they'll just take your gun from you and kill you with it.

Something similar to this happened about a year ago in Memphis, TN. Two men were arguing over a parking space outside a restaurant. One went to his car and came back with a .45 and proceeded to threaten the other man and his family. Then he shot the guy. The shooter in that case was a permit holder and obviously in violation of the law when he drew a handgun to threaten someone in a verbal argument. I think we all know that's not what we carry for.

Road rage can make anyone mad quickly. How you react depends on self control. Being past my mid 60s and in this state I would only draw if cut off where I couldn't move and assaulted while in my vehicle. Otherwise any vehicle damage would be reported by cell phone as soon as I was stopped. If I draw my weapon the situation will cease to exist.
