To make it clear on some of the above.
This is legal:

This is legal because it cannot be fired in the holster:

This is NFA regulated:

I'm making a dangerous assumption that the area in front of the barrel is open, as I don't see stitching in that area.

rromeo, do you have sources for those top two holsters in post #27?

I've been contemplating one for the Mrs and her NAA .32acp, and maybe my KT P32 and/or NAA mini revolver while I'm a it.
Either would be more square in pocket-print, so the debate goes to "stays in pocket" or "draw whole package" ... I'll leave it up to her, I suppose.

AOW is a federal restriction that trumps state law.

Post 27. Pocket holsters. The first one looks like a gun in firing condition; it is not deceptive. The second has to be drawn from the holster for use; not deceptive. The last can be fired while looking like a wallet in firing condition; it is deceptive.

You could carry it in the hollowed out book (I think) but if it can be fired with out removing it from the book It becomes a AOW =any other weapon, and the book or what ever, has to have a fed tax stamp and be registered. Holsters that look like a wallet that allow the firearm to be fired without removing became an AOW. Cobray used to make a briefcase that hold a pistol-MAC 10etc. and it became a victim of ATF regulation.. There are folks out there that know far more than I that could fill in the details and correct my errors.

Just to stir the pot a little....

What about a hammerless revolver in a CC style purse and firing without removing the gun?

BBQLS1, it doesn't matter. However, two or three shots can seriously deteriorate the appearance of a purse, although it's quicker than fumbling around to draw the handgun from the purse before doing Good Things to Bad Guys.. Stuff spills out, also. They sell purses at Wal*Mart, though. I've seen 'em.

Hammer or hammerless, it's not unwise to put the handgun in a thin sandwich baggie for purse carry. The problem is not the hammer; it's junk protruding into the trigger guard. The baggie solves that problem, but won't interfere with pulling the trigger.
