790.06 License to carry concealed weapon or firearm.
(1) The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is authorized to issue licenses to carry concealed weapons or concealed firearms to persons qualified as provided in this section. Each such license must bear a color photograph of the licensee. For the purposes of this section, concealed weapons or concealed firearms are defined as a handgun, electronic weapon or device, tear gas gun, knife, or billie, but the term does not include a machine gun as defined in s. 790.001(9).

I assume this means that in order to carry a knife you must have a CCW just as you would a handgun? Would anyone like to clarify this for me?

You can carry a "common pocketknife" without a permit since Florida law doesn't consider it a weapon, unless used as a "deadly weapon"

According to Florida law a "common pocketknife" is described as a folding knife with a blade 4" or less.

There was a case where a 3.5" bladed folding knife with a large finger guard and notched "combat" grip was considered to be a weapon and not a "common pocketknife".

You are still prohibited from bringing a "common pocketknife" at a school, school grounds, school bus stop or school bus as described in F.S. 790.115.
