Now read this really close. (However, you must remember that a license to carry a weapon or firearm concealed on your person does not authorize you to use that weapon.)

This is really a strange statement, your comments.

About The Program
The concealed weapon or firearm program is administered by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in accordance with the law.

Section 790.06 (1), Florida Statutes, defines concealed weapons or firearms as those carried in a manner that conceals them from the ordinary sight of another person. This includes:

handguns
electronic weapons or devices
tear gas guns
knives
billies

A Note from the Commissioner of Agriculture
Applying for a license to carry a concealed weapon or firearm for self-defense is a right of law-abiding Floridians. However, you must remember that a license to carry a weapon or firearm concealed on your person does not authorize you to use that weapon. Use of a concealed weapon or firearm is regulated by other provisions of Florida law. It is my hope that you will exercise your lawful right to carry a concealed weapon or firearm responsibly, properly, and safely.

Welcome to THR...but I'm afraid I miss your point? Also, I don't see what you see that's disturbing. What did I miss?

Are you kidding? I thought my Texas CHL was like James Bond's License to Kill...you mean it's not?

They should have covered that in the class...

Welcome ttusus.

I see this is your first post so welcome to the board. I am sorry but I don't understand your request for comments. I read it some time ago, applied for it and now have one, the non-resident that is. To me it means I am not a cop, I am not authorised to shoot anyone or arrest anyone. With this permit one is able to legally have on their person a means to defend themselves and family if it becomes necessary and unavoidable. Hope this is along the lines of what you were asking. Jim.

It could be other laws too

When I read it I was thinking about laws that regulate use like discharging in city limits, can't take it into courthouses, schools etc. I don't know if either is a law in florida, but that may be what they are getting at.

If you read the whole thing, you would see that I didn't make that statement. It was out of the context of the piece I posted from the FL. AG statement.

No comments were requested, just a post of the comments he ( AG) made.

For Info only. Period.

Charles Bronson is the Agriculture Commisioner now and Charlie Christ is the Atty. Gen.

Tis only support the inanimate object theory. The CCW permit only gives you the right to carry a tool use of that tool is covered under the applicable laws concerning, discharge of a firearm, self defense, homicide and many other rules and regs and laws.

Is this not the same Agriculture Commision that went around violating people's private property rights just to kill their orange trees? If so, then the statement doesn't seem that far off. Only in goverment does it make sense to let the fruit police regulate your self-defense methods.

Loved the Death Wish movie series. I used to have a sound track of the background music for one of them and I'd play it while driving around town with the windows down... Nobody ever tried to car jack me. Wonder why??? :D

The orange trees were destroyed because they were infected with highly communicable diseases that would further destroy Fla already devastated citrus industry, the same way they destroyed anthrax infected cows in your neck of the woods.
DACS is the Dept of Ag and Consumer affairs they are a division of the old Fla Gestapo HRS. they are alot more than "the fruit police"

I hate to point it out, but you did specifically ask for comments.

With that in mind I see nothing wrong with the AGs comment, as it was said before, this simply means a CCW is not a license to kill, you must still obey the laws on usage of a gun.
