Bersa 380 Thunder

I will agree with jimmygrish on one thing. It is a very satisfying feeling to smash and thoroughly destroy an object that causes you nothing but grief over long periods of time. I once worked as a photographer. I owned one particular Nikon camera that intermittently froze up--always at the precise moment that I needed it to work the most. No matter how many times it was sent for repairs, it always ruined assignments. The last time it screwed up, I smashed it into pieces on the sidewalk, swept up the pieces and felt really good about it.

That's actually understandable and reasonable to me, and I appreciate your post(s). What you haven't said as your initial comment was something broad and illogical about how you hate all Nikons now because that one particular Nikon didn't work out for you. You gave us the luxury of a particular, and didn't lash out at the entire brand.

Local gun shop I worked for sold tons of Bersa .380s. Very few problems (like 3 or so out of 300ish sold) and those problems were usually folks running them dry. I have two and use grease to lube the slide/frame connection. Absolutely no problems with the .380s.

My Bersa .22LR is breaking in nicely, but it's a little rough.

I bought a Bersa Thunder .380 when they first came out and carried it IWB or in a pocket (that it fit in) for quite awhile. I put 1000+ rounds through it without one problem. Great little gun!

I had an incident that made me loose faith in the round, so I gave the Bersa, a couple holsters and a case of ammo as a Christmas gift to my father-in-law. He wanted one, but couldn't pull the trigger (pun intended) to buy one. That was several years ago. He shoots it at the range weekly and hasn't had any problems to date. It's the only gun he owns.

Oh, and I did come across something of interest in a LGS once.. a fifty-round drum magazine for the Thunder .380.. I do not remember how much he wanted for it, but, a fifty-round drum for the Thunder .380..!? :what:

Once more many happy Bersa owners and "1" their trash. I think I know who this Bersa trash person is. He loves to trash a Bersa . You that have them are in the majority of owners. .

Well as far as I am concerned, front sights do not fall off good quality guns requiring a out of the box repair. I will reiterate that Bersa is cheap junk again.

A owner sight fell off and calls them junk I have a Kahr CW-9 with a very loose front sight that needs fix. So I guess I should call it cheap junk and smash it.

Like your Bersa come over to http://bersachat.com Discount on factory mags , custom holsters grips and give a ways.

The 50 round drum has been tested by a couple of people that bought them on Bersachat. They were not reliable and not worth the money.

Love mine. Took it to church today, cause a 1911 or security six was too big for crgos and a t shirt.

And yes they like to be greased.

I must have refinished a dozen Bersas before they went to polymer, and never had a problem with them. I've got a Bersa Thunder that stays in my top drawer, and it's as solid a shooter as I own, and I own about 50 pistols. Anybody trashing Bersa shooters is an idiot... they're reliable, have the same features as many of the high-dollar guns, and go bang every time you pull the trigger... all for about $280.

Bersa 380. and others..

I bought a Duo-Tone 380. a few years ago,(paid 230.00 at a gun show) absolutely love it! Can't tell you how many rounds have put through it, but A LOT!
My fiance now keeps it with her, she is a mean shot with it...:p
I also picked up a nickel Bersa UC Pro 45. about a 1 1/2 years ago or so(320.00 for it), also a great handgun.....and I have all the "top" brands too, S&W, Ruger, etc.
Bersa is the best kept secret in hand guns, and the prices are great!:D

I feel like chimming in. After shooting both a BT.380 and the S&W PPK/S, there is no doubt in my mind that the Bersa is superior in accuracy, comfortability and, fit-n-finish. At this time, I can't add reliability to the Bersa's superiority list as I am still struggling with the disconnector spring issue. It is now going to go to the BWSC for repair. Once that has been fixed, I fully expect to add "reliability" to the Bersa Superior list.

I'm not slamming all Bersa Thunder .380 models or S&W PPK/S models. Just telling it like it is when I compared the two models at the range today.

jimmygrish, can I assume you don't like Bersa firearms? Maybe a few more posts would make this clear.

I too, like my Bersa 380.

But I question the wisdom of rolling your own defense ammo. It could come back to bite you in court one day.

I think a 380 to the chest is better than a 9mm to the arm or gut. ;)
