Although I own and like all kinds of guns, I think I have some special place in my heart for those of blued steel and walnut. I thought it would be appropriate if we shared them with each other. Anyone else afflicted similarly?

Not sure I have walnut grips left on ANY of my pistols. My favorite wood is cocobolo... hmm.

Ok I managed to find a couple in my collection still sporting walnut:

1919 made Colt Government Model
1939 Mauser made Luger

Enjoy ;)

Blue steel and walnut? OK.

But I also have a fondness for nickel.

And sometimes I like ivory rather than walnut.

Shooter-grade Lugers aren't that hard to find and still just under a grand. I need to pick one up soon as the way the market is going my 1939 matching Luger is going to be too valuable to shoot!

My P49 came with these later production (mid-80s) commercial P210 stocks.
I assume SIG used walnut. Do they still grow walnuts in Switzerland?

When it comes to blued steel, a Python is in a class all by itself. I had Pythons in 2 1/2, 4, and 6 inch varieties. The word "had" just makes me want to kick myself in the butt. I have also "had" a scad (that's more than a gob) of Smith revolvers. Now I don't even own a blued handgun.

That pic of the J-Frame on the chess board made me hand my head in shame for selling mine. At least I still have a pristine set of old school J-Frame grips.
