I choose an M1911 because thousands and thousands of dead Moros, Mexicans, Germans, Japanese, Russians, North Koreans, Viet Namese and sundry other enemies of the United States can't be wrong.

Glock 26 all day every day, sometimes dual carry with A Glock 19 or a Glock 17. If I happen to be prancing around in minimal clothing (IE: no belt..) I pocket carry the Ruger LC9. I like 9 mm as you can see. Its about shot placement not displacement IMO. And with that said Id rather have more rounds in the magazine. And well nothing beats a Texas reload, Just pull out a second gun screw the tactical reloading. However I do carry a 1911 A1 or a XD45 compact from time to time just cause I can. My record is concealing 8 pistols at once, that is reasonably confortable for the entire day. Its funny to go to the range and keep pulling out different pistols left and right. I get the weird looks, especially on the weekends when a lotta families are out on the range. I find it amusing, and sometimes it sparks a few conversations.....

Smith & Wesson 642 because its very light, concealable, and comfortable.
I live and work in a low risk environment. Therefore, I prefer the easier to carry over the higher firepower. The Kahr PM9/CM9 is another fine choice IMO.

I really like carrying my S&W 638 because it is so light, easy to conceal, quick to bring into action, and is totally reliable. If I want to go with something even smaller and somewhat more concealable, then I will go with my KelTec P3AT.

A Wilson Combat CQB Compact .45 ACP finished in Robar NP3 because it's stupid reliable, accurate, intuitive to operate and a easy as all get out to carry concealed thanks to its round butt mainspring housing, officer's sized grip frame and slim single column 1911 silhoette.

I have changed my ccw criteria. Once it's broken in & I get my holster arrangements set up, I plan on using a Springfield EMP in 9mm.

I came to the conclusion that the gun I shoot the best is the gun I should carry. This baby is dead on accurate, and similar to the previous post is easy to handle.

Ruger lc9

because I liked the size of my .380 but wanted a more powerful round. The LC9 is less than 30% bigger than the LCP but carries 7+1 of 9mm. Fits the bill well. Now I am in the market for a high capacity 9mm to go with it.

Ruger LCP, plus one of the following, Glock 26, Glock 30, Emp 40. That's what I have cut my old larger collection down to, All but the lcp have either front or both Night sights, no lasers, two or more extra mags, and the Glocks have plus 2 addidtins on top of larger mags for a reload. Lcp goes everyware with me in the house as well, 2nd gun is when I leave the house. If I don't shoot them I no longer choose to have them, money goes to my rifles and ammo.

I switch out between a Kimber Ultra Eclipse and a Walther PPKS. I started with the Kimber, but the weight of it can sometimes be a drag. The Walther is a lot lighter and thinner, so I often opt for that when I am in shorts and t shirt. The Kimber gets pulled out on Sundays and for when I am fully dressed. (i.e. not looking like a beach bum)

I carry a Sig P250c in 40 with jhp's. I chose this gun for several reasons first being I got a hell of a deal on it and it has night sights. It is a little think but carries 13 rounds of 40 which I find is enough shots of that cal that I don't need to carry my extra mags. (which saves me the hassle of hiding my mags)(if there is a threat after 13 shots ima goner anyway). It's DAO with no safeties which means when I pull it out all I need to do is pull the trigger.

Most importantly it's reliable and comfortable, it's a sig.

@CheapFuneral

Welcome to THR!
Excellent choice of carry weapon. Just FYI in case you didn't already know (which was once the case with me) the reason that a lot of people carry an extra magazine is because the magazine of an auto loader is the most likely cause of a failure to fire. It's not really for the extra ammo, although that is a huge plus.

M1911A1, Mil-Spec, Caliber .45 Automatic, 230 Grain Ball. It just works... and works... and works... and works... through the mud of the trenches, over the beaches of Normandy, through the sands of Iraq, and back - 101 Years of excellence - All others are pretenders to the throne.

Government issue Colt 1911 .45 because it's heavy, slow on the draw, has slide lock safety and low magazine capacity in large pistol plus I do not believe in bullets with large pits at their tips.

I chose a ______ as a CCW

FEG PA-63... It was the first pistol I bought; doesn't print too bad under an untucked shirt. Pros: goes bang whenever I pull the trigger; puts the bullets where the muzzle is pointed. Cons: modest stopping power, heavy felt recoil, modest 7+1 capacity of 9X18 Makarov. Mixed blessings: Having a heavy DA first trigger pull is not good for accuracy, but could discourage an ND if carrying with a round chambered but the safety off (I carry w/ the safety on because I'm a ninny).

Gen 3 G21... Got it cheap(ish); figured I could sell it for a few bucks profit if I didn't like it. But, I found I really like shooting it. Pros: 45ACP is a proven good defensive round; 13+1 capacity. Trigger pull always the same. Cons: Kinda' bulky under a shirt w/o a jacket on. Mixed blessings: Have to be careful handling, as I believe in carrying w/ one in the pipe, and the gun WILL discharge a round if the 'booger hook' meets the 'bang switch'. But, I won't have a safety to disengage if using under stressful conditions.

Right now, I'm strongly considering buying a second, smaller Glock in .45, so I can have a more concealable EDC piece that works/feels the same as the 'big Bertha' that makes me feel comfortable if I have to go down to the shop on Aurora at night.

Honestly, I don't know that having a lot of magazine capacity is as big a deal as it's made out to be. How many gun fights actually last more than a total of 3-4 shots fired between all parties? So, I vacillate between the idea of the more concealable G36 or the G30 that could take my G21 mags.

because I can. Well that and sometimes I just feel like I was born in the wrong century.

Since i carry a variety of handguns for cc it is hard to say. But nowadays i usually carry a M&p 9 full size (winter carry) with a smith 637 or ruger LCR as a backup. In warmer weather it is usually a snub backed by a snub, LOL. Not a super big fan of subcompact autos in these days.

I choose a S&W Mod 10 3" because its the biggest I can shoot without re-injuring myself over and over. I also carry a .22 Mag NAA as a BUG.

My CZ 82 because it has plenty of power for SD and I am deadly accurate, all 12 rnds within 1" at 7 yds. I somtimes carry my Taurus 145 Pro but I'm not as accurate with it.

That is very rustic. I'm going have to pick up that Webley & Scott MK IV .38 with 3" barrel. That is the revolver that drives wheel gun guys nuts many asking is that gun safe to shoot sir? I just tell them it is junk and very dangerous to shoot with modern ammo.:D

Well, I'm a newly added member to the forum but I've been reading it a long time. I always come here whenever I'm considering a new purchase to see what everyone else has to say about it, more information is never a bad thing. I chose a Ruger Service Six in .357 magnum with a 4" barrel as my CCW. A lot of people say service weapons are too large for CCW, the truth is I can conceal this gun as easily as the .357 snub nose I started out carrying and I am far more accurate with it. I also have switched from .357 magnum loads to .38+P loads for the increase in control and faster follow up shots. I carry my revolver and two speed loaders, never expect to even use one of the speed loaders in a SD situation but better to have and not need. The main factors that went in to choosing this gun are: 1. I like the 4" barrel as it is the best trade off for me in regards to accuracy, ease of concealment, performance of given ammunition, and speed of deployment in drawing the firearm. 2. I wanted my CCW in .357 magnum because I could spend a lot less on ammo for training and I would have the option of stepping up to .357 magnum if I needed to, but I can carry with .38+P and still feel comfortable with my choice as a reasonable medium. 3. I wanted a Ruger, forgive me if it's a personal bias but my first handgun was a Ruger and I have been in love with them ever since. I think they make some of the most beautiful and reliable revolvers on the market. 4. I wanted a revolver, I just don't like auto loaders. I don't think there is anything wrong with them, I just can't achieve the same accuracy with an auto-loader as I can with a revolver. Six rounds is all I expect to need, if I need more and have a chance to reload then I have my speed loaders and I practice with them regularly. I'm no Jerry Miculek but I do well enough. I'm sure there are other factors that went in to my choice, price and such, but honestly I doubt they are relevant to the discussion. Anyway, thanks to you all for being here. I love The High Road and whether I post or not, know I'm always reading.

Right now I carry a Smith and Wesson M&P9c during the winter and a Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .380 during the hot southern summers (both in Bianchi 100 holsters). I always carry an extra magazine and a Streamlight Scorpion flashlight as well.
> The M&P holds 13 rounds and is reasonable for concealment under a sweater, light jacket, or heavy coat.
> The Bodyguard holds 7 rounds and is a breeze to conceal under a polo with chinos.
> Both are lightweight and offer "real" sights.

Cheers!
