OK I finally too the Glock plunge got me a 30SF.....tried to fill my 9 round mags and can only get 8 rounds in them....have 2.
My 10 round mags are tight also but they'll just take 10.

My 1911 Colts never had this issue.....what's up with Glock ?

Thanks....

The springs in new glock mags can be notoriously stiff and hard to load. Try using a mag loader like the uplula. Once you get it loaded, store it that way for a week or so. It should help loosen it up a little.

Same story on my new glock 29sf, load them up to capacity and leave them like that, they seem much easier to load after a week or two.

Did you try using the mag loading tool
That came with the pistol?

Your guide rod should last for a few 100,000 rounds so once you get to that point you can think about a new one.

Go with the Wolff non-captured springs, on a steel rod.

Your mags are fine, if new take em apart and clean to be sure, then load em up.

Have fun.

How do you feel about the plastic guide rod......should it be changed out to SS or Titanium....?

Useless to spend your money on the SS or Titanium. The polymer one is fine.

And get a mag loader, load the mags to full capacity, and leave them. They usually take a couple days to loosen.

Have you got any idea just how many Glock Pistols got fired just today around the world with the stock guide rod and I will bet that NONE of them misfired or malfunctioned. And that is just today mind you!

You only need a mag loader the first time you load the mags. Simply load as many as you can get in there and let the magazine set over night. Finish loading and leave the mags loaded for a couple of days. After you do that it is easy to fully load them. Don't waste your money on something you will only need to use 1 time.

Totally disagree with the above statement. The $30 I spent on the uplula was money well spent. I load all of my mags with it at the range. It keeps my fingers and thumbs from getting sore, which means I spend more time shooting. I don't think you'd be saying that if you owned one and used it.

yep, I got one of the Lula AR mag loaders and it is great, didn't think I would need one but when loading up 10 mags or so, it really speeds things up

I then got one for pistol mags.

it speeds things up when only loading 10 round mags over and over again

Load it to eight and put nine on a napkin on the kitchen counter. With the mag upside down, push down on nine moving mag forwad. You can use thumb and index finger to hold nine in place.

Why don't they make a 12 round mag for the 29 I don't know.

My Glock 30 came with a Glock mag loader in the box with the two 10-round magazines. After loading and reloading them a few times, they ease up. Another thing that makes them easier is adding the +1 floorplate, turing them into 11-round magazines, with the same original spring. I can load 11 rounds now without having to use the loader at all.

Fill them to the max and let them sit untouched for two weeks. Remove all cartridges from both and Voila ... full capacity will appear.

Or you can get yourself a couple of Pearce PG-30 Magazine end caps and improve the fill and fit to your hand all at once.

What's up with Glock? Nothing ... just stiffer springs.

I have two "nine" round mags for my G30...
They have been stripped, cleaned, used, left loaded...Dosn't matter. Forcing a ninth round into them amounts to mag abuse, IMHO.
I don't really care, though...I'm well used to 7rd 1911 mags, so 8 rounds of 45acp is fine...and I only use the nine rounders when I want the smallest form factor for concealment. I usually use the 10rd mags, which, BTW, load 10 easily.
The Glock mag loader works fine for me...as do my fingers.
