thanks for the link - I'll check it out. I've been looking for a .410 barrel for my T/C Contender and I have discovered that .410 ammo is outrageous in terms of price!

Shouldn't be any more pricey than anything else these days.

In fact it's getting easier to find good defensive ammo for the .410 now than it ever has been.

The Federal 2-1/2 inch '000' buck loading is proving to be the top of the list for good .410 defensive ammo.

they usually go for around $15.00 (At least around where I live) for a box of 20...cheaper than buying the older factory 5-packs for $5.00 a box.

Shot placement okay, penetration bad.

Good for No-Legs though.

Which did you look at first birdshot or buckshot?

The lower energy means that the buckshot pellets will expend most of their energy inside the target, offering a reduced chance of shoot through (unless said threat is at muzzle to rib cage distance)

I know I saw the buckshot. If I remember correctly it was only something like six inches of penetration. While it's better than nothing, I think there are way better choices out there.

"Watch the video carefully and see all four pellets exit the 10x10x12-inch block. The top pellet, which retains the most rounded shape, exits the block first. The flattened fourth pellet leaves the block last"

I guess you didn't watch the vid did you?

The data lists the average penetration at 9.25-13.62 @ 10 yards.

No, the website started giving me script errors before I got to any videos. What was the difference between the buckshot that only penetrated six inches, and the one that made it to thirteen?

I guess the old saying is true "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink"

I clicked the link and it works great and fast for me. I like the looks of the US Firearms gun with the gold bead front sight.

Looks like the Federal Premium is the ammo of choice for putting the four 000 pellets in a tight spot. I wouldn't want one of those things pointed at me.

Thanks for posting that link...very interesting and informative.

Not a problem,I always liked the .410 and can see that it brings much more capabilities to the table than some would give it credit for.

Wow, tough crowd... have an opinion that differs... and you get the troll label.

All of you closet .410 revolver types... come out of the closet! You can do like I did last June... go to your LGS in a 325NG quest - and come home with a new Governor! Same construction, sights, etc - and less than an inch longer, despite it's slightly longer barrel. It weighs less than an ounce and a half more, too. Of course, it shoots .45 ACPs in the same moonclips as my 625JM... but the killer... I saved over $300, too, over the cheapest 325NG I've seen. Yeah, it launches 2.5" .410 shot shells. I bought a selection of them that first week - none since. Another plus - I didn't break my "I won't buy a Taurus Judge!" promise.

Come on... open that closet door...

Old Fool ...more like trolling fool.

Old fool is a very well respected member of this community, and rightly so. I think conducting yourself with a little decorum is in line here. You make a valid and interesting argument for the .410. Don't cloud the validity of your argument by taking the "low road."
