LA....Lower Alabama, I think. The tinfoil confuses
First, this is a question that I have been thinking and debating about posting.
Second,I thought about putting this in legal but was not sure.
Third, I hope this doesn't get locked; but if it needs to be lock and delete. I will understand.
IYHO, if they get a chance what would be the first thing the anti's will try and take from lawful citizens?
High capacity mags?
Auto's?
SBS/SBR?
"Assualt Rifles"?just using their lingo
Supressors?
Imports?
Maybe something else?

So what do you say THR?

I'm concerned that if the current President wins re-election, we'll be so preoccupied combating his anti-gun initiatives that we'll all but ignore a possibly more dangerous threat - a post-mayoral Bloomberg. I read an article about the things he wants to accomplish once out of office, and gun control is a biggie on his agenda.

Ammo. This is their new backdoor to reduce the usability/availability of guns.

Micro-stamping, lead bans, taxing, & forbidding mail order. Look to the states where the antis are in power and see what they are trying to do there. That is what the national agenda would be if they had the power.

They generally use "assault weapon" instead of "assault rifle", in my experience. IMO, they'll first go after high cap mags. Why? Because it's the only thing that isn't currently regulated to at least some degree nationwide already.

This why everyone who owns a firearm should both be an NRA member and contribute to their ILA fund. Just remember that there are many possibilities that they could come for your gun if you sit back and do nothing!
Sorry Mods, I just had to say it.

Unless something unforseen and catastrophic happens, I don't see this being an issue.

Most states have moved in the right direction with concealed carry laws over the last couple of decades. In the years since these laws have been put in place, crime rates have not gone up. More people are getting concealed carry licenses, every day. The greater Portland area is broken into 3 counties (4, if you count Vancouver, WA as a suburb-- as we should). One of those 3 counties is booked 3 weeks out, and has a carry licensing appointment scheduled every 15 minutes. This, despite our CC laws arriving in 1996. I can't even imagine what it's like in Wisconsin.

Further, there are more people right now who are worried. Worry is often associated with feeling vulnerable, and vulnerable people tend to seek security. I expect the trend toward better gun laws and rulings to continue.

...as long as we, responsible gun owners, continue to do everything that we can to help this process along. We need to take positive steps, and to be the most calm, cerebral people that we can be. The less "they" fear "us", the better off we all are.

I agree with them going after ammo first off, maybe with some insanely high tax of sorts? And btw its been intense in WI for Concealed Carry permits. Classes are filled every week evry where

There is no nationwide regulation of magazines.
There are State restrictions on capacity in just a few states.

There's no chance that suppressors or other NFA regulated items will be further regulated than they are currently.
A retread of any part of the old AWB is unlikely.
Import restrictions would be possible.

The anti-gun folks will take whatever they think they have the political or legal support for. I don't think they're picky.

Of course, they probably don't need to spend much energy trying to completely ban full auto. The closed registry did a pretty good job of doing that as a practical matter. And the hassle factor involved in getting an SBS/SBR/suppressor is probably good enough to satisfy them for the time being.

Further limitation/regulation/bans of semi-automatic (so called assault rifles), at least on the federal level wouldn't appear to have any political "legs" at this time. And most States in which that sort of thing might fly politically already have bans in place.

I think we might we see some activity in the area of lead regulation, qualifications (training requirements, safety, fitness) and efforts to scale back Castle Doctrine/Stand Your Ground/Civil Immunity laws.

This is it exactly. They have their druthers, but any chip in the stone they can get, they will take.

The "gunshow loophole" seems a likely point of attack to me.
Followed by attack on all private sales, trying to get all transactions on the books.

Maybe then the question is what will they have/think they have grasp for next?

Ammo and private sales, most likely. They've been complaining about gun shows for ages, and ammo taxes are always a possibility. An AWB is a big no-no for them after what happened to Democrat-controlled Congress after the ban of 1994.

They have been trying to stop face to face sales for a while now and morons from anti-gun states swallow the "gunshow loophole" crap hook, line, and sinker. They honestly believe that the restrictions are going to protect them from thugs that don't care.

Gang members don't look at their magazines before a drive by and say "oh crap guys we can't go through with this because these thirty round mags are illegal in California".

If they manage to end the "gun show loophole" we will see the end of the:

1. Face to face sale loophole.

2. Online ammo sales loophole.

and of course, last but not least, the end of the:

3. Privately owned firearms loophole.

Another thing we should worry about are C&R licenses. After all you can get an armor piercing rifle with a high capacity (Brit .303) delivered straight to your door! The horror!

Most likely "armor-piercing" ammunition. Steel-core penetrators, etc. And possibly any steel-based ammo (with the true intention of banning cheap imported ammo like Wolf). I can also see them try to place incendiary and tracer rounds under the NFA as destructive devices.

The last decade or two has been a real wakeup call for gun owners.

People won't sell their freedoms for a million dollars, but they'll give them away a nickel at a time.

We must NOT give in to ANY regulations.

The antis are gonna continue to come hard at:

FTF sales, 'loopholes' created by their bad laws, ammo taxes, banning international ammo imports, magazines with 11+ capability, C&R... and anything they can get their hands on...

Vote against any anti-gun candidate...

Sorry Mods, I just had to say it.

There are other organizations that could use your help. If you're a hunter there is the North American Hunting Club at http://www.huntingclub.com. If not, I recommend the Second Amendment Foundation at http://www.saf.org; Gun Owners of America at http://gunowners.org; your state rifle association (if you have one); etc.

I'm not as concerned about what they will go after, everything could be targeted, as I am about how. If NObama is reelected, my fear is that he will circumvent Congress with executive orders and/or "Policy" changes in interpretation and enforcement like he just did with illegal immigration.

The antis' preference for a leftist government allows its goals to be achieved by small, but constant changes.
Society doesn't notice until years have gone by, but they become conditioned to it.

This is what is so insidious and alarming. They might achieve much more by minor changes.
Its is like guerrilla warfare: many small skirmishes, with only the long-term goal which counts.
