About a year ago, my friend's father-in-law died. He was a gun dealer in the next state. My friend and his wife and his mother-in-law have been going through stuff to make sure what's there and not there.

He doesn't know anything about guns at all. He went in with his iPhone and took pictures of everything that was in a box or case.

He knew I was into blackpowder, so he asked me about this shotgun. I haven't seen it in person, it's with his mother-in-law. Considering that I've read of other guys here finding used shotguns for $50,$100, and $150, I'm thinking $50.

Double barrel 12 gauge percussion shotgun with an obvious repair on the wrist of the stock.

His father in law had just gotten into CAS, he has some cowboy revolvers and rifles and other stuff, too.

That right there is one beautiful scattergun.
I'd be honored to fashion her a new stock out o' some quality black walnut.
There's yer first stock from scratch project Levi.

Condition is everything, of course, and in this case the condition of the bore is everything since, as Jim, West PA suggests, it needs a new stock.

Pristine barrels: $150
Average barrels: $50
Poor barrels: wall hangar

Thanks, all. At least I know I won't be cheating him. His father-in-law was going to use it in CAS, I assume the barrels are good, but I don't know if he was going to use it as-is to compete or use it as a project gun.

He's going to go back in a week or so, I'll ask if he can't bring it back with him so I can check for pitting with a borelight.
