Used HK45C Pricing

Finally decided to let my HK45C go. It's a Variant 1, with somewhere between 1,000 and 2,000 rounds through it. I managed to destroy the manual by leaving it on a deck table overnight (it rained), and I also managed to lose the test brass and the lock, but otherwise I've got everything it came with.

My LGS offered $500 for it, which I was sort of shocked by. Is that an accurate price for the used market with these things?

While I'm hardly surprised that a gun store offered you much less than a gun is worth, that figure is not an accurate reflection of its used value.

Your used HK45 compact would bring between $875 to $950 + locally, in the condition you described. I know because until recently I was shopping for one.

Put it in the classifieds here for less than $1K and I predict a very fast sale. Good luck!

Is it German made, or US made?

Your location also makes a difference in value. They can be hot in one place, and not so hot in another. Some people might be a little turned off by the lack of factory goodies.

Hkpro was offering a group buy for the same gun in Flat dark earth with night sights for $855 brand new.

For a gun shop to offer you $500, that is not too bad. They need to make a profit.

Your used HK45 compact would bring between $875 to $950 + locally, in the condition you described. I know because until recently I was shopping for one.

I can walk into a pawn shop here locally and pick one up w/ the older proprietary rail for 575.00. It seems a little low to me, but thats what they have on the tag.

The proprietary rail would be a USP, not an HK45.

I was planning to try letting it go for around $700, or maybe even a straight-up trade for a Glock 19. I know I'd be taking a bath on such a trade, but it doesn't bother me all that much. Learning experience.

I never thought to try to sell it here. I may just do that. Thanks for the tip!

It's US-made. In northern VA, local shops are selling them new for around $950.

It had the "spiderweb" grip so I assumed it was just the HK45, Im not that versed in HK's sorry. Regardless he had two H&K's (45 & 40) priced substantially lower than most places Ive seen them for...

I would definitely try and sell outright thou...

New ones go for around $950.

I have seen used ones sell on GunBroker for around $700 - $750.

Yes I'd like to understand that one as well, let alone a "straight up" trade. Talk about a step down.

Hold on a few days and I'll go buy a gLoCk19 and trade you straight up.

Because I'm not convinced that a 1000+ round HK45C is going to move at $700. It very well could, I don't know the used market at all, but I'd be surprised. Either way the cash is going to a Glock, most likely a 19.

Doubt it. 1500 rounds through it, no manual, no lock, no fired casing. What does it have? Just the box? Value will decrease a lot. Many folks like to have everything that originally came with the gun. I say $700-$750 top.

That still doesn't answer my question of why you (or anyone) would voluntarily give up an HK45C for a Glock 19.

If you were local to me in CT, I would buy you a new G19 for it.

Because I want a Glock 19, and I don't anticipate being able to sell the HK45C for more than new Glock 19s have a habit of going for around here?

This isn't a, "Glock is better than HK!" thing. I'm very happy with the P30 I'm keeping, and if I could swap the 45C out for another one of those, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Or even the full-sized 45, which doesn't beat my thumb up as badly as the 45C does for some odd reason. But, that's unlikely in the extreme, new Glocks sell for around $600 up here, and I reckon that's about $50 less than I could get for the HK45C, hence my statement that I'd take a Glock 17 for the 45C. Makes sense to me.

Nothing wrong with wanting something else. I have both the 45c and the G19 and they fill different roles for me. The G19 is a heck of a lot cheaper to practice with. My HK is a LEM variant and it is my winter carry gun.

I would post a WTT ad here first. Then I'd post one on armslist in your local section. Let folks know you are interested in trading your 45c for a nice G19 plus some cash. You may get some nice offers right away - or you may hear crickets chirping... depends on how desirable the HK45c is in your area. If you cannot get a trade going you should be able to get 800 for your pistol in a ftf sale without too much trouble.

$800? I wish. There are a couple 45Cs sitting in consignment racks at local gun stores priced at $700, and they've been there for a few weeks now.

I'm sorely tempted to just throw it up on Gunbroker or something.

Demand must be low in your area. I'd still try posting 'want to trade' ads on every gun forum you frequent. I would imagine there are a few folks out there who would like to 'trade up' to an HK

I believe I will.

And yeah, demand for the 45C's fairly easily met around here. The full-size HK45 cannot be had for love or money, though. If I was looking to rid myself of one of those, I could start shooting diamond bullets with gold cases.
