In my last two range sessions with my XDs .45, I have started to notice more frequent FTRB issues going on, after more than 500 flawless rounds. I keep my guns extremely clean, they get cleaned after every shooting session, and I shoot the same ammo through it.

I finally decided that I just couldn't trust it 100% anymore, and after reading several posts from various gun forum members here having the same issue and Springfield saying that there was no problem, I figured that I would trade it in for something else rather than try and send it in.

I went over to my LGS that I do a lot of business with, and ended up trading it straight across for an excellent condition used Hk USP .45 Compact bi-tone. The Hk came with two 8 round mags, the box, and the manual, along with a couple of finger extension floor plates.

It is a variant 1, DA/SA with safety/decocker, and has a spurless hammer. I did find a close out on CDNN tonight, and got a factory Hk USP hammer with the rubberized spur for $9.99. They were $50-$60 everywhere else that had them in stock. I will be changing out the hammer once it arrives.

Overall, I love the way the USP Compact feels in my hand. It looks really good with the stainless slide as well. I need to get to the range soon and put some rounds through it.:D

I don't even like DA/SA guns and if I had an XDs, I would have made that trade.

I did let the owner know about the issues I was having. I purchased the gun from him back in August of last year. He is going to send it back to Springfield to be looked at.

Sounds like a great trade! Had a USP some time back in .40 and it was a solid, well made gun.

I'm thinking about trading my XDS in also. Do you mind telling us what you got for it? I'm kinda wondering how much of loss to expect.

I have the usp 45c as well and love it. It's one of the softest shooting 45s you will own. You definitely lost some conceal ability but IMHO the value and quality of the hk usp is leaps and bounds higher than xds. Usp series are built like tanks and if you decide you don't want it you could sell it for more used than you could a new xds. You got the better of that deal. Pocket pistols and ccw are extremely popular right now and your lgs will have no problem unloading that xds fairly quickly. The only problem with the usp 45c is the price of mags. The rest of the usp series mags can be had for around $30-$35 if you shop around, but the 45c mags I can't find for less than $50. The 10 round mags for the 45c can be had for around $60-$70.

Nice job. I have both and if I could only keep one it would be the USP. My XDs on the other hand, has been perfect and it's a great carry weapon.

The USP also carries well, however mine is a 9mm Compact, which is likely somewhat smaller than yours. The H&K is really nice and slim. Mine has never failed to function. Ever. Bought it brand new back in the 90s.

Sorry but I can't be the only one?

What is a FTRB issues?

frailer to return to battery is the only thing I could come up with?

Skribs

The reason I asked how much is not because I did not read the op's post it's because of
jimbo555's reply he just beat me to it.

An even trade did not sound right but hey Skribs if that's the way it is the op can just not reply to my question.

All I can say is he got one hell of a deal.

FTRB = Failure to Return to Battery I'm assuming. Probably time to replace the recoil spring but hey, you got a good deal out of it.

My XD45 4" service model has been flawless in the last 3 years. I fear though, now that I just purchased an FNX .45 Tactical, that the XD will become a safe queen.....

I got $600 out of my XDs .45 with a Crimson Trace LG-469 installed on it. I was happy with that. They had the Hk priced at $699. The owner said that he had the Hk for quite awhile, and had not had much interest in it. I saw it on the shelf there 7 months ago. So he traded me straight up for my XDs.

I had around 500 flawless rounds through the XDs, minus two failure to return to battery in the first 50 rounds when it was new. I attributed that to being a new gun, and didn't worry much about it. Then it became once every 50 rounds. The once every 20 rounds or so.
