Please recommend an AK47 gunsmith in Vegas

The manufacturer of the finest AKs made is Arsenal Arms in Las Vegas. Call them and ask if they can recommend a local smith or a moonlighting employee.
The best in the AK world is Jim Fuller. Be prepared for looong wait times.

If you have a specific problem or need, post it up on here. There's a lot of very knowledgeable people on here that might be able to help you out, and you might be able to do the work yourself. AKs are fairly simple to work on...

I have two brand new VEPR rifles, one in .223 and one in 7.62x39. Both rifles are going to receive Tapco G2 trigger groups and US made pistons. The 7.62 I want modified to work well with TAPCO standard AK mags (usually readily available in various capacities), and the .223 is going to receive an MSA AR-15 magwell adapter which requires milling the receiver. While I'm sure I could figure out most of this on my own and could probably "Bubba" things together, I simply don't have the tools to do it properly, and I do want it done properly and professionally. I don't know how many of you have experience with the VEPR rifles, but they are the nicest AK style rifles IMHO, and I wouldn't want to make a mess of them.

Fuller at Rifle Dynamics is world class good and yes, you will wait for it.
Of course it depends on what you want or need to have done and your budget/schedule.

I like the guys at Wild West Guns (went to their premier viewing party for their new show last night), and they are my go-to 'smiths, but they don't do much work on AK's and when I asked I got "I think we can do that." For this project I want a dedicated AK guy. I might check with New Frontier if Rifle Dynamics is too backlogged.
Well, I emailed Rifle Dynamics and they said they don't work on VEPR's. That makes no sense to me at all, but it's their company. I haven't tried Arsenal, Brentwood or New Frontier yet as I wanted to hear back from RD first. I am familiar with Arsenal's reputation and it hadn't occurred to me that they did work on anything but their own stuff. I do not know anything about the competence and quality of NFA and Brentwood as it relates to AK's. I would appreciate any experience anyone here has had with them and any other suggestions would be appreciated too. I'm also no longer ruling out shipping the rifles somewhere if need be.

You can try Henderson Defense. I have never done any AK work with them but they said they worked on AKs. I remembered that they made a run of Khyber Pass AKMs that were really popular a couple years back. Id like to know what you find I have a few parts that can be put together for a rifle.
OK, I've decided against making permanent modifications to the receiver, so the MSA adapter is out. I have Polish Beryl .223 mags on the way which are supposed to be top-notch mags. So far the only local company to respond that was willing to do the job and sounded confident in their AK work is New Frontier Armory. Haven't heard back from Henderson Defense yet. I am still waiting on parts so I don't have to pick a smith yet, but unless I get a better suggestion, it looks like it will be New Frontier.
