Wasn't sure where to put this but this is an auto loader....

My nephew just sent me some pictures of his new custom-built Kimber ordered when he was skipper of the USS Truxtun, a Burke-class missile destroyer. The words "Pursue, Attack, Vanquish" engraved on the gun's slide is the ship's motto, which was engraved on a gold medal given by Congress to Commodore Thomas Truxtun after his ship, the Constellation, beat the French ship Le'Vengenace in the Quasi-War against France. You can't see easily in these iphone pictures but the serial number on the gun is DDG103-01. All it took was the Naval Academy and about 15-20 years service to get this gun.

What a small world, Creature. I see your Truxtun was a nuclear-powered missile cruiser decommissioned in '95. It says on its history that it fired the last missile at a North Vietnamese target.

I remember that there were eleven Mig silhouettes painted on the door leading in to CIC...and in tracker alley there was a mural "In God we trust, all others we track." that was painted back in the 70's.

I see it holstered in one pic, does he actually carry it? I know guns are for use but something like that seems better suited to commemorative display and family heirloom status.

I can see it being case-mounted at some point, but right now it's brand new and he's been wanting a Kimber for a long time. First command, first Kimber - I'm thinking he's pretty proud of it right now.

Can I ask who did the work? My son and the rest of his squadron would like to get one along those lines for their Major who is moving on.
