LOL! Never been in one before. Who would pay those prices? $600 for a Glock G26! I got my Gen3 G23 for $400 at a GSSF shop. That's the last time I'll waste my time in their store.

Not to digress to food, but my wife and I were driving through Amarillo last year and stopped at the Big Texan for lunch. They do put out a nice steak...

There's a Gander Mountain near me. All I've ever bought there is ammo - their gun prices are outrageous. Having three LGS to choose from, there's no way I'd ever buy a gun from GM (well, unless somebody gave me a gift certificate).

I retired from my company effective 01 May 2013. The guys I have worked directly with in my department kicked in and bought me a $500 Gander Mountain gift card. I wish it was Cabela's but it's Gander Mountain. Have one about 10 minuets away. Waiting for ammunition to return in quantity. :)

My Glock Gen3 G19 was around $400 some 3 years ago. After taxes and fees, it came out to be about $500.

My Ganders pretty good i gota say. i buy ammo, and got a Lyman tumbler for pretty good price if i remember correctly

Coming home from a Memorial Day weekend visit to my son and his family, I stopped at the Gander Mountain just south of Chicago on I-55 and got a nice deal on a jar of 32dB ear plugs, an extra 9mm-.45 caliber UpLula loader on sale, and a Mossberg choke tube wrench I have been looking for quite a while. Most of their prices, much like Cabela's and even worse, Bass Pro Shop seemed pretty high, but no one forced me to walk in the store nor buy anything. I am glad I stopped, but unless something specific is on sale or I have some significant time to kill I doubt I will be shopping in one again anytime soon.

GM makes me sad.

Decades ago I got my very first cap and ball revolver, an 1860 army reproduction, from them. At the time they had a decent mail order biz. Then their management decided - in the late 1990s mind you - that remote selling was dead and the future was in physical retail stores. They sold the mail order biz to a company they obviously thought were suckers. That quality of management is the reason why...well, the nearest GM to me is across the street from an Academy Sports. I have seen the same gun in both stores on the same day... Academy asking $799, and GM asking $1049.

Needless to say, I haven't actually bought anything from GM in years. :(

I roll right past Gander Mountain to get to Fleet Farm, or anywhere else.

They do serve the great retail needs of many people, but not me. I believe you need to be a little more adventurous than that and visit the smaller LGSs, and of course, Fleet Farm.

do they sell presses? and reloading components?
The one here in Huntsville sells supplies but I haven't seen any presses there. Also Wiley's sporting goods in Decatur, right off 6th Ave has some supplies and presses last time I was in there.

In Lubbock, you can almost throw a rock and hit the Gander Mountain from the Academy parking lot and Cabela's is putting in a outpost store between them. Now if we had a rifle range again.......

I haven't been to the Amarillo Gander Mountain lately, but last time I was there they had a much better reloading gear and supply selection than the Lubbock store.

Prices are often higher than some (not all) local gun stores, but they usually have a better selection.

hey zdc. when were you in wileys? was that during the panic? thx for your service also

GM has very high prices with a nice selection. When they mark down their clothes for the season you can get good deals on good quality clothes. Guns and ammo? LoL, they are ridiculous. However, when they used to put ammo on sale in their circulars, there was some good prices. Other than sale items I don't know how they stay in business.

Gander has a good range and the range staff is pretty easy to get along with, so I will take people there in the winter when it's too cold to go to the gun club. As far as anything else, I might look on my way in/out of the range area, but I never buy.

They cant be any higher than Basspro.

The Basspro by my house had all the RCBS dies you could want at $49.99 for the greenbox and $59.99 for the carbide.
