mossberg 590a1 forend question

I'm looking for a wood forend for my Mossberg 590a1. Trouble is it has a 7 5/8" slide and I can't seem to find a whole lot in the way of wood forends for this pump size, I find plenty of pictures but nothing that is still in production or being sold still.

I just need a point in the right in the right direction, the preference would be to get one of the "corn cob" forends but I'm not prepared to buy a whole shotgun just to get it.

Any suggestions or links as to where I can find one is appreciated.
 
What about Numrich gun parts, or Brownells or even calling Mossberg direct.

I like the look of wood furniture on combat shotguns. Those are the routes I would check. The other possibility would be to add a WTB tag line on your profile so other members will see what you need when you post no matter what subforum you're on.
 
nothing on brownells, numrich had parts but had nothing on measurements for the forend. These days I guess a lot of people think this stuff is standard sizing.

Mossberg has something but no telling what it looks like, that's my last bet, order a forend without having an idea what it looks like
 
I hate to resurrect an old thread but I rather not start a new one for essentially the same thing.

I found the forend but am now in need of a birch stock for a 12 ga Mossberg 590a1 with a 13" or less length of pull. any ideas?
 
I asked them a while back when I was first looking for both the forend and the stock but they didn't have anything then, and I don't see anything listed but I sent them an email anyways for good measure.
 
I second the recommendation for Havlin, that's where I got mine. It took me about 6 months of searching and waiting to find these stocks so don't get discouraged if it takes a while. The old wood corn cob fore ends seem to be a lot rarer than they used to be.
 
Found a used one on eBay after a lot of patient waiting. Pawn shop trade or Craigslist might work.
 
it took me 3 months to find the corn cob fore end, and luckily found one that had never been installed on a gun, I almost feel bad for thinking about sanding it down and re staining it.

I'm patient, never thought the stock would be harder to find than the for end though.
 
I've got a regular 590, but here it is with a wood forend off a 500ATP:

I've tried a few other wood forends in the past, only to find out they weren't the right size. Recently I bought a Mossberg 500ATP that had a wood forend and plastic PG. I've had bad experiences with PGO shotguns, so I put the synthetic furniture from my 590 on the 500, and then tried selling the PG and wood forend off the 500 on craigslist for $7 because I intended to get magpul furniture for my 590.

Thankfully, people around here are total cheapskates and the forend didn't sell, because midwayusa changed their in stock date on the magpul furniture from 7/1 to 10/2, which is far too long for someone as impatient as I am to wait. So that's when I decided to see if that forend would fit my 590. It did, and I ended up ordering another wood furniture set off ebay because I still needed a wood stock. I also got a bayonet from Ontario knife company. My light mount won't fit with the bayonet now, but it still looks nasty enough without it that I don't mind. A real WWI trench shotgun is way more than I'll ever be able to afford, so this is as close as I'm gonna get.

A wood stock and forend like mine sold on ebay recently for $132. The ad said it was off a police shotgun. I'm not sure how rare police 500s are, but I know for certain they'll fit a 590.
 
coosbaycreep, that's more or less what I am after, the forend on the 590a1's is a 7 5/8" slide instead of the 6 1/2" slide that modern Mossberg 500's have. However the older police issued mossbergs had the 7 5/8" slide. It was a pain to find the forend (so I decided to look for that first), I found mine on ebay and it ran me a little shy of 100 bucks just for the forend, and luckily it looks like I just found the stock I was looking for.

though I may contact that seller on ebay to see what the length is on that and put my money down there as it looks pretty nice.
