Ballester Molinas

one of my first hand gun purchases, too. Back in about 1979. they were pretty rare, back then, before the first big wave of surplus Argentine 11.25/.45 pistolas hit the market...

The Argentinian "Federal Police" sample I looked over seem pretty solid but fact that barrel and magazine was Colt 1911-type was not enough goodness for me to go for it.

I just purchased this the other day for $300, it is about 100 percent original bluing with just a little wear and that is on the grips but damned if it does not look like new. Took it out to the range today only to find the sights had been set for a left handed shooter so I just switched hands, but it outperforms my other pistols - it was amazing for a gun made in the late 40's. there is no markings on the right side of the gun slide and no import marks at all. I would purchase another if I found one. ballester.jpg

How do these shoot?

How is the trigger pull on them compared to a 1911? I noticed it is a hinged trigger.

Thanks in advance,

New Purchase!

Mag s/n matches frame.
Replaced the grip panels to preserve the mint-condition originals.
Been told these were all refinished at some time, so I guess that's why this one looks so good. Must have been well cared for after that, and shot very little - ever, 'cause the bore is pristine. But I guess that could be a replacement, too?
Have not shot yet. ...Soon!

Nice photos of a really great gun guys! Back in the 1980's at IPSC matches I watched a guy use a Ballestar Molina to routinely out shoot guys using Colts and Pin-guns.

Nice find and in really great shape! I remember looking at one many years ago but didn't know enough about them to risk my hard earned dollars on getting it.
