Some may think I am nuts (well my wife does anyway), but the more I shoot my RIA 1911 compact the more I like it. Picked this little lady up back in December on a whim. It was used and for less than $375 I couldn't pass on it. Nothing special. Appears to be completely factory.

Yesterday weather and my schedule actually allowed me some time to go the range. I had several handloads I wanted to try. (Just started in Oct. '13 so on a big learning curve.) I figured I would try them in my SA Range Officer and one other 45. It was a toss between my SR45 and RIA. The RIA one out since I haven't shot it but once.

She functioned flawlessly. Handling the 4 different loads I was trying, except for one fail-to-feed, a LSWC that struggled in the RO as well. At 8 yds I was hitting 4" steel easily and repeatedly on fast fire. Recoil was easily managed with the gun dropping quickly back into position, ready to go again.

I really love my RO, but the RIA Compact, with a little less weight, is earning my trust. I have been carrying a 9mm Shield, but willing to give the RIA more belt time. Just wish the it was as a little more comfortable on the hip. Maybe I should go OWB versus the IWB that I normally use.

I bought one a couple of years ago as I was looking for something a bit more compact than my Colt Commander. Let me tell you that it shoots circles around my Colt. It is more accurate and it is more comfortable to shoot. If I'm ever short of cash the Colt will get sold and the RIA compact will stay at home with me.

This is a case of less being more!

I'm glad you like it:) I had to sell mine off as it was a jamomatic. RIA was first class taking care of it, but i just couldn't trust it. I'll happily by another RIA, but my compact turn me off.

It's a shame, the gun was a sweet shooter.

Congress!
